The Camp: The project is for providing sanitation and safety wall facilities to the schools and the community and a clean environment for the community which is being affected by tourist influx and lack of waste management system, watershed management systems and also to create awareness on the Tibetan migrant and their culture. FSL India is conducting regular camps all through the year for the last 9 yrs with the purpose of bringing a sustainable model in the hilly terrain with the partnership of the School management Committee, waste warriors,Tibetan Welfare Office and the Local municipal.. Activities: Promote Eco friendly practices In the first two weeks of this work camp, the volunteers will work on Construction of Toilet and school walls, wall painting, educational drawing , teaching basic English and Mathematics Cleanup activities in the waterfalls, creating awareness to the community and tourist to support responsible tourism , Health and Hygiene awareness, tree plantation to avoid landslides, Pond and tank cleaning

Accommodation is In a rented Guest house or Hostel, with shared rooms. Food: Indian food will be provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Filtered water is always available for drinking purposes.

Location: McLeod Ganj is in Kangra district which is upper part of Dharamshala. Dharamshala is located in the state of Himachal Pradesh, North India, 500 kilometers from Delhi.The exact Meeting Point will be mentioned in the info sheets. Leisure activities: Visit various Tibetan institutes to understand the migrant issue and how the Government is taking care of the migrants. Interact with monks and the local community to understand the culture. On the third week of the camp volunteers will take part in a four-day trekking activity around the mountains of Dharamshala and Triund.

Volunteers will live in guest house with simple conditions and share accommodation with other volunteers. All meals will be cooked and served in guest house. Dharamshala offers tourists culture of Tibet and a different experience. Like any other hilly area, the houses in the area are scattered. The economy of the Tibetans is on tourism whereas that of local villagers is purely dependent on agriculture. Project will be held in sub-urban area of Mcleodganj.The volunteers will have opportunity to visit the seat of spiritual leader, the Dalia Lama and other historical Hindu temples. Opportunities will be there for short and long treks in the mountains after the camp. During weekend visit to Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab can also be arranged.

The transformation of this little village community began in late 18th century when Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala decided to create a new summer capital which would be better than "Shimla": all this for bruised ego.Self organized city tours and excursions. A variety of treks are available in close proximity. A visit to Shimla will offer an opportunity to see high Himalayan Mountains. Chail Palace and world's highest cricket stadium can also be visited.

FSL-India cooperates with several local NGOs in assisting various government schools by creating awareness on relevant issues as well as undertaking simple renovation work to improve the infrastructure in the schools. The aim of this workcamp is to:aeuroOrganize a multi-purpose project to involve the local community and sensitize them about Environment and Health and amp; Hygiene issues. aeuroEducate children to build a better and more conscious society. aeuroEducation and Awareness on Environmental issues to children and villagers. aeuroAssist the activities of other NGOs working in community service projects. The work camp involves teaching children from poor and marginalized communities in the non-formal schools on - basic English and Mathematics, Health and Hygiene issues, and Environmental protection through creative learning methods like art, music, games etc. House visits and meetings with local people will be organized as part of inter-cultural learning and to give awareness on Health, Education and Hygiene. Volunteers also will get a chance to take part in simple renovation work at local schools and engage in activities like painting, making Kitchen garden, tree plantation, renovation of toilet and kitchen etc. As part of the cultural exchange, volunteers will witness and participate in the cultural programs with local community.
