The main works will be done in the wood. The volunteers will do various environmental works as well as renovation and construction works on the island. The aim of the project is to improve the infrastructure of the island. Possible tasks are removing bushes, collecting rubbish, repairing works and so on. Volunteers should be prepared to be flexible and take part in any work that will support the rangers.
Accomodation & food:
Your accommodation will be very basic. You will sleep in three large tents on camp beds. The infrastructure on the island is very basic without electricity. There is no heating in the tents and on the island you have to use compost toilets. The accommodation is quite isolated so volunteers should come with ideas about how to entertain themselves in the evenings The foresters of the project have built a nice and comfortable block house where the group will meet and eat.

On the island without electricityThe island Liepnitzinsel is situated in a picturesque lake, the Liepnitzsee, in the north of Berlin. It is surrounded by a beautiful landscape with many forests and lakes.

Special remarks: The island is very isolated and you have to be a real nature lover to participate in this project. You have to use the ferry every day and it stops running about 8 p.m. Please be prepared to not be able to visit Berlin very often On the island live many permanent campers during the summer. You will work on the Europa-Jugend Bauernhof, a farm that caters for school classes who want to experience farm life. Volunteers will participate in varied environmental work around the farm. The work might include altering an old pig pen into an adventure site for youngsters or preparing small projects for children living in this region. You will work in the garden, undertaking tasks like weeding, harvesting and planting. Please be prepared to work in small groups. Volunteers should be prepared to be flexible and take part in any work that will support the farm.

Together with local youth from Hanhofen, you will undertake various gardening and landscaping tasks, including working with wood, stones, and dirt, in order to improve the look of the town. In a research workshop, you will research bionics under expert leadership, specifically which role nature has in brainstorming new ideas for technology. Your team will be provided with bikes, and there is a good bus connection to Speyer. In and around Hanhofen there are plenty of leisure activities and you can also travel to nearby cities such as Heidelberg, Mannheim, Karlsruhe, a park in Hassloch, and to the Rhine River. Rangsdorf is located 15 km south of the Berlin city border, and is a town with about 11,000 residents and plenty of nature at the edge of the large Rangsdorf Lake. In order to make this beautiful landscape accessible for visitors and nature lovers, a hiking trail network has been under construction since 2005, and is enlarged every year. Under the expert leadership of a local landscaping organization and in cooperation with the Berlin Brandenburg Airport, your team will help extend the network even more. The tasks will include maintenance, repair, and construction of path sections, removing underbrush, building benches and observation points, creating and installing signs, and maintaining nearby nature areas. Most of the work will be done by hand. The forester and other workers will assist with the more difficult tasks. At the end, there will be a large presentation for the public.

In an elementary school. There is a grill area and volleyball court in the yard. It is a 5 km commute to your work site, which you will do by bike. Meals will be prepared as a group.

Brandenburg; 15 km south of Berlin. At the edge of Rangsdorf, you will find the typical Brandenburg landscape with fields, meadows, small lakes and creeks, and forests. You will be provided with bikes that you can use for the whole camp, so you can reach the swimming hole (about 3 km) or the train station (4 km) easily.
The countless historical castles and parks in the Berlin-Brandenburg region are organized and run by the Prussian Castle and Garden Organization. Potsdam is the focus of this over 300 year old cultural landscape, with its historical facilities, which also include the castle Sans Souci and its park. Your team will be undertaking gardening work in the park and will get a great sneak peek into this field of work. In the Charlottenhof Park, created in 1883 by P.J. Lenne, you will help maintain paths, flower beds, and lawn areas in order to ensure this garden maintains its beauty. Through this project, you will learn about the various areas in the park.

In a school in Potsdam, with mattresses placed on the floor. Meals will be prepared as a group.
Location & leisure:
Brandenburg, on the southwest side of Berlin. Due to its location near Potsdam and Berlin, your group will have plenty of opportunities in your free time to go sightseeing as well as enjoy the local lakes and woods areas. You will be provided with a ticket for the local public transportation in Potsdam.
This year your help is needed in continuing to build the conference room. It will be build in a sustainable manner, which means that there will be used only ecological materials. Similar to previous years is the opportunity to get to know and look after the local Permaculture (trees, plants, animals and nature/environment education).We are happy that you will be part of our event Ernahrung Global: Sachsen und Asien (Global food : Sachsen and Asia). Asian food recipes and an overview of Asian food culture are very welcome.How to create a productive garden which grows plants and feeds animals in a way that only a minimum input of energy and resources are required to achieve maximum sustainability to the environment? Requirements:
We are looking for 12 motivated young people who are interested in handicrafts, advanced training and gardening/landscaping.
The main work in Klein Dammerow will mostly consist of gardening and cleaning up the historical park around the house, which has long been unused. Year by year, this way it is possible to discover another part of the huge garden area. The participants will mow the lawn and cut bushes and trees. Another task is to finish the works at the fence, which first part was built new in a traditional way by volunteers in 2012.Open Houses attaches great importance to renewable energy. That s why we use an eco-friendly, wood fired heating-system in the Manor house. Under this aspect the volunteers will cut firewood, which was brought to the property, and move it to a roofed place for wintertime. Also it is possible, that the volunteers will go to the forest and collect firewood, to bring it to the Manor.In case of rainy weather the volunteers can work inside the house and do small renovation works on the building.In the first week the group will work on Saturday, too, only Sunday is free. Therefor the volunteers will have a cultural excursion to Berlin for two days at the end of the second week. The accommodation in Berlin will be organized by Open Houses.

Common sleeping room with matresses, warm shower and toiletsThe meals will be prepared together as they are part of the community life, what means that everybody will be responsible for the meal at least once during its stay. So it would be very nice if you could bring typical recipes from home in order to introduce each other to the preparation of food from all over the world.

Klein Dammerow is situated in a beautiful landscape. The huge garden on the backside of the Manor is ideal for playing ball games or just relaxing. You can use your free time for exploring the surroundings by foot or bike, going to one of the lakes nearby (around 8 i 10 km from Klein Dammerow Manor) or for small excursions.
The main purpose of this project is showing how to stop the extinction of species in rural areas, especially of the honey bee and other pollinating insects.The volunteers will continue with environmental works along a bee trail which was created last year. You will plant untrimmed hedges as wildlife refuges, planting and sowing flowers and blossom plants on traffic islands and on uncultivated land. Other tasks will be removing neophytes along the bee trail, building insect hotels and deadwood and clearance cairns. Your help is also needed for constructing different hiding, sitting, climbing and balancing places for children. Please be prepared for any environmental and construction work that will help the rangers.

You will live in a school. Everything is in the building: sleeping rooms, a kitchen and a big meeting room. Sleeping bags and roll mats are required.

The project is situated in the Nature Reserve Sternberger Seenland , between the cities of Guestrow, Wismar and Schwerin in the Federal district of Mecklenburg, in the north east of Germany. This area is covered with forests and you can find a lot of beautiful lakes there. This is a project for real nature lovers.
