How much does it cost?

How much do you need to pay to participate in a voluntary work project through VAP?

If you apply for one of our UK based projects you will pay £80 to VAP. This fee covers our administration plus food, accommodation, and cultural activities during the project.

If you apply for a short term project included in the Standard Programme (Europe, North America, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan) you will pay to VAP £150. This fee covers our administration and food, accommodation, and cultural activities during the project. You will not be expected to pay any more costs, you will just need personal cash. With the travel cost you could therefore budget a 3 week project in western Europe for £300 all in.

If you apply for a project included in the North-South Programme (Africa, Latin America and other Asian countries) you will pay to VAP £180. Travel, and eventual vaccination and visa costs are in charge of the volunteer. Most projects organised in the South (those included in the North-South Programme) and a small amount of projects organised in the North (those included in the Standard Programme), charge a hosting fee that is used to cover the costs of the project itself. That fee is described in each project description and most of the times it includes transfer from the airport to the hosting organisation’s office and/or from the hosting organisation’s office to the project. The hosting fee also covers food and accommodation during the project but all other costs that you incur outside the project dates are obviously on your own charge.

If you apply for a Medium/Long Term Volunteering project you will pay to VAP £190. In most cases you will pay also a registration fee to the hosting organisation plus a monthly fee that will differ from partner to partner. The monthly fee is described in each project description and most of the times it includes transfer from the airport to the hosting organisation’s office and/or from the hosting organisation’s office to the project. The hosting fee also covers food and accommodation during the project but all other costs that you incur outside the project dates are obviously on your own charge.

All of these payments include free membership of VAP and need to be done simultaneously with the sending of your application form to us.

There are three different ways of paying your fee:

- via Bank Transfer

- via PayPal (if you chose this way you will also have to pay the PayPal transfer charges which are £5,48 for a Standard Programme project or £6,53 for a North-South Programme or Medium/Long Term Volunteering project).

- via Cheque.

Quote of the day

« I appreciate that constructive criticism may be more useful to you than praise but I honestly have no gripes that I could possibly mention. I can only thank you for the experience that I really enjoyed and will undoubtedly follow-up in the coming year. »
