Soil and water conservation, Live hedge fencing, Fruit and forestry plantation.Crop cultivation, Composting, Kitchen garden, Medicinal plants cultivation, Nursery management. Maintenance and management - After care, Basin making, watering, pruning, protection etc. Post-harvest practices - Threshing, cleaning. Documentation of traditional cultivation practices. Learn the basics of Yoga and practice everydayTeach basic English in school, introduce creative learning through art, music, games etc. Promote Health and Hygiene AwarenessPromote Eco friendly practices

The workcamp involves teaching children basic English and Mathematics, Health and Hygiene, and Environmental Protection through creative learning methods like art, music, games etc. There will also be house visits and meetings with local rural people as part of inter-cultural learning and to help generate awareness on health, education and hygiene. Volunteers can take the school children to places in the city and organize - picnics, exposure visits and city walks etc. As part of the cultural exchange, volunteers will witness and participate in the cultural programs with local community. Volunteers need to come up with ideas for the program on their arrival, and thereafter the whole group will settle on a plan of action decided by the team. The workcamp will focus mainly in schools/orphanages and volunteers will visit the surrounding areas to impart the message given through presentations, puppet shows and dramas/plays etc.

In a rented Guest house or Hostel, with shared rooms. Accommodation can vary a lot in our camps from youth hostels, guest houses, lodges etc. The accommodation will be simple but comfortable and clean, so be prepared to live a simple lifestyle during these two weeks. Panjim is the capital of the state of Goa. Panjim is accessible by air. Domestic and some international airlines fly directly to Panjim Airport. The nearest international airports are Mumbai and Bangalore. Trains and buses operate on a daily basis from Mumbai and Bangalore. The exact meeting point will be mentioned in the info sheets. Leisure: Weekends are free The volunteers will not work on Saturdays and Sundays. They can plan their free time accordingly. The camp leaders are there to provide you with the necessary information about interesting excursions and trips around the camp site. To promote intercultural learning, the team leaders will arrange visits to places of interest, weddings, festivals, local house visits, interaction with local youth etc. The local community would be more than happy to welcome you. Please use this opportunity to exchange experiences, to learn more about other social, cultural and political living conditions and to show them, in return, yours. In order to promote that, we will have a special cultural evening, when the volunteers will be able to present their countries and interact with the locals.

The volunteers on weekend will have opportunity to visit other historical town like Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jaipur, Ajmer to name a few; desert safari on camel can also be facilitated. Jodhpur is well connected by rail, road and air to other regions around India giving countless options to volunteer after workcamp.

Festival of Lights is a national festival celebrated throughout the country with lot of zeal. This festival, falling on 30th October in 2016, is celebrated with a great fervor just like Christmas and goes on for 5 days. Diwali is followed by other local events like Budi Diwali, Bhaiya Dooj, Chhat Puja etc. In North India, as it is believed that it was on Diwali that Lord Rama along with Sita and Lakshmana returned to Ayodhya after killing the Demon king Ravana in Lanka.Rock Garden in nearby Chandigarh city is of international fame and can be visited on week-end.The volunteer will basically experience the culture, visit places and families for inter-cultural learnings and work a little on the farm occasionally.

Bandh is a small and sleepy village with 30 households and is situated close to RUCHI office in SSolan district of Himachal Pradesh. The area is scenic with a all year round beautiful climate. The village is 65 km north-west of Chandigarh city and 40 kms from Solan district headquarter. The entire area is hilly where the rural economy is based on agriculture and horticulture. This is a fruit growing area and is famous for producing Asia's best peaches. The weather is always pleasant and the landscape is beautiful. Self organized city tours and excursions. A variety of treks are available in close proximity. Shimla offers an opportunity to see high Himalayan Mountains. A visit to nearby Chail Palace boasting world's highest cricket stadium can also be rewarding.

FSL-India cooperates with several local NGOs in assisting various government schools by creating awareness on relevant issues as well as undertaking simple renovation work to improve the infrastructure in the schools. The aim of this workcamp is to: aeuroOrganize a multi-purpose project to involve the local community and sensitize them about the Environment, Health and amp; Hygiene problems. aeuroEducate children to build a better and more conscious society. aeuroEducation and awareness on environmental issues to children and villagers. aeuroAssist the activities of other NGOs working in community service projects.
