Anoek de Smet
joined her first workcamp in 1991 and
went to places such as Spain, Turkey, Hungary and Palestine. She
became
a more active
member of Contact J -former Belgian branch- and the international
YAP movement by attending various Directing Committees and Congresses,
by leading several Brussels based workcamps. She followed a workcamp
leader training (by Contact J - Brussels) and training to train
workcamp
leaders (by YAP - Rome).
Following the Braganca (Portugal) seminar, she organised alongside
Gisele Evrard, YAP Romania, Via Pacis (Hungary) and YAP Latvia
the first Arte Diem Festival in Brussels in 1996. This was followed
by
participating in a study visit to the Lebanon, which resulted
in an exchange between Offre Joie and Contact J later that year.
After some quiet years Anoek moved to London in 2002 where she
has joined YAP-UK / Action for Peace Volunteers.
Anoek is working as an Architect / Urban Planner.
