This is a workcamp involving cleanup, construction/renovation of homes and support of a community that lost their homes to flooding. Work is physically hard and we expect volunteers can work 7 hours a day in hot weather

Nashville, Tennessee. Nashville has a vibrant music and entertainment scene spanning a variety of genres. It is home to the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Assisting neighborhood residents in cleaning up alleys, vacant lots, and helping elderly and disabled people with things that they can no longer get out and do. We will also be helping in the community gardens throughout the neighborhood and may assist with building repairs or improvements at the community-owned grocery co-op.
Accomodation & food:
Vols will be living with families in the neighborhood. There will be 2-4 volunteers at each site. Most meals will be hosted by neighborhood residents. Sleeping bags may not be necessary but would be helpful since some host families may not have extra beds.

Less than two miles from downtown St. Louis, MO. Leisure: Bikes and bike trails close by; jazz, soul and blues clubs, theatre district and several museums are within driving distance or accessible by public transit.

Rebuilding homes in the flood-damaged Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans. 5-day week of full work days 8am to 5pm. Unskilled volunteers will be trained by skilled staff and long-term volunteers to help us provide free labor to neighborhood residents, so they can return home after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. All aspects of home rebuilding will be addressed, from roofing to finish carpentry.
