Volunteers for Peace and Elderhostel (www.elderhostel.org) cooperate to offer this Senior project. Working with Heifer International, help construct community buildings at a Heifer Global Village. This hands-on learning center allows visitors to experience day-to-day lives of different peoples and cultures by stepping into replicas of homes from around the world. Your help will be instrumental in completing these homes, and through experiential learning programs at the Heifer Global Village future visitors will gain a greater awareness of world hunger, poverty, and population issues. Additional service opportunities include assisting DC Central Kitchens staff as meals are prepared for delivery to feeding stations throughout the Washington DC area as well as visiting and serving at local Maryland food shelters.
