The Newport School District and the Newport Revitalization Committee host this project jointly. Work will evolve around the themes of Teaching and Community Interaction. The primary project will be working with Newport youth who will earn academic credit in Social Studies by learning about volunteers' homelands and preparing a multi-media presentation for the community. Volunteers will be expanding the world vision of rural NH youth. Mornings will be semi-formal instruction with use of computer laboratory; afternoons will be cultural with cooking, games, music, etc.

In the local high school. Bring a sleeping bag and pad.
Location:
The organizers are experienced workcamp hosts in rural western New Hampshire, town population 6000. There will be several opportunities to experience the beauty of New Hampshire's lakes and mountains plus one all-day field trip with the students.

Concord, NH. (Bus terminal easily reached by express bus from Boston.)
Special requirements:
VFP MOTIVATION FORM REQUIRED. No smoking or alcohol at housing. Basic computer skills, including PwerPoint, helpful. Must enjoy working with teens and preteens. Organizers would be open to early arrival on Aug. 5th of people who speak French and/or Spanish (not necessarily as first language) for a "mini-camp" Aug. 6 – 8 with Newport students learning those languages. Otherwise, PLEASE PLAN TO ARRIVE ON TIME AND REMAIN FOR THE ENTIRE WORKCAMP
