Work will include pasture clean up, removing fencing, grading roadways, clearing brush, setting up and beautifying the site, and clean up for two days after the festival. Some of the work may be strenuous, but great care will be taken to make it fun. VFP vols should count on simply enjoying the actual festival weekend. Study and recreation opportunities with the greater SolarFest community. Vols will make many new friends and have ample opportunity to interact while working for a common, fun, worthwhile endeavor. Accomodation & food:
A rustic house and cabin with pond and amenities 1 1/2miles away. Dogs and cats live at both houses. Great food is prepared with rotating vol help; no curfew but we work farm hours.
Location & leisure:
Tinmouth, Vermont is a very small, rural town. It is beautiful but remote. Gorgeous hikes, canoeing, swimming, horseback and bicycle riding.
Requirements:
Knowledge of horses, gardening, construction useful. Smoking only allowed in one area.
Vols will co-lead small groups of adults with special needs on a 3-day weekend getaway to celebrate Sprout s Sproutstock Music Festival in Upstate New York. Responsibilities include ensuring safety, providing emotional and physical support, enhancing fun, budgeting, driving and activity planning 24 hours a day while on trips. Vols must be willing to assist with all Adult Daily Living skills (brushing teeth, separating dirty clothes, showering etc). This is very challenging work, yet also very rewarding and fun. Experience working with this population is an asset but not required. Training will be provided. Some light office work or assistance is required.
Accomodation & food:
While at the Music Festival, you will stay at a hotel. While in New York City, you will stay at a youth hostel. Volunteers must feel comfortable sharing co-ed accommodations with little privacy. Volunteers will be responsible for their own meals, transportation and activities while staying in New York.
Location & leisure:
Manhattan, New York City et Catskills Region of New York. Leisure: Due to the short duration of workcamp, you will have minimal time to explore NYC.
Requirements:
Responsible, motivated vols, aged 21 years and older with Drivers license strongly preferred. No alcohol during trips. Fluent English. VFP MOTIVATION FORM and PHONE/SKYPE INTERVIEW REQUIRED.
