WORK: Play music, clear brush, learn folk dances, pick blackberries, put on new roofs, swim in the Yuba River, dig in the garden, create delicious meals, paint buildings and look at the spectacular night sky.

If we get final approval, we hope to build a new trail connecting the center of the community to the city s largest office buildings which reside near the top of a hill, creating a trail through a hillside forest,. The project will involve the construction of stone steps up a steep hillside. We may also rebuild the wood portion of a bridge that crosses a river. Both these projects require state permits, we may or may not be able to obtain so the group may end up working on other projects. Other major project could include trail restoration work in remote sections of the parks. There may be some opportunity to do some general park maintenance such as mowing lawns and restoring drainage ditches.

Montpelier is the capitol of Vermont with a population of 8500, making it the smallest capitol in the U.S. During free time volunteers will have access to local parks and recreation areas. The summer weather is usually good for visiting some wild and beautiful swimming areas. There will be time for interaction with the local community so please bring information about your country, hobbies, and life to share.
Requirements:
Be ready for hard, physical work. Bring proper clothing and footwear.
Work will include pasture clean up, removing fencing, grading roadways, clearing brush, setting up and beautifying the site, and clean up for two days after the festival. Some of the work may be strenuous, but great care will be taken to make it fun. VFP vols should count on simply enjoying the actual festival weekend. Study and recreation opportunities with the greater SolarFest community. Vols will make many new friends and have ample opportunity to interact while working for a common, fun, worthwhile endeavor. A rustic house and cabin with pond and amenities 1 1/2miles away. Dogs and cats live at both houses. Great food is prepared with rotating vol help; no curfew but we work farm hours.

Tinmouth, Vermont is a very small, rural town. It is beautiful but remote. Gorgeous hikes, canoeing, swimming, horseback and bicycle riding.

Knowledge of horses, gardening, construction useful. Smoking only allowed in one area.
Development of land into farm use, and construction on farm buildings.Work; Agricultural; turning soil, weeding, gathering, and hauling, fellingtrees, composting, cutting firewood, using trees saws, shovels, axes,and other garden tools. Construction; building a large deck, gazebo, andouthouse. Volunteers will be nailing, moving materials, digging foundations,making beams and posts, using hand and power tools. We will gladly teachanyone basic construction skills. The work we do is varied. Oscarsfarm is located in the rural unpopulated region of Vermont known as The Northeast Kingdom. The closest town is West Burke, population 300. The geography is mountains, and rolling hills, valleys and farms. Very green and lush, dotted with streams, and lakes. Hiking, fishing, swimming, painting, drumming, berry picking, ceramics,candlemaking. Also we will have field trips to Montpelier, and Burlington, Vermont, and Boston Ma. We also have professional artists, and musicians coming to do workshops.

Volunteers will work with American vols from local schools, churches and organizations on numerous community projects over the course of the two weeks. These projects will include working side by side with counselors at the Audubon Society s Children s Summer Day Camp. Activities involve assisting with outdoor adventures, games, crafts, stories and environmental education in a beautiful forest setting. In addition, the International Volunteers will work with American volunteers conducting landscape and maintenance work at the South Congregational Church where the international volunteers will be housed.STUDY THEME: PEACE in the traditions of Martin Luther King and Gandhi with African djembe drumming,peace music and peace poetry evening workshops. American peace activists will make presentations all in the interest of opening dialogue around peace themes. Volunteers will demonstate peace by living, working and enjoying cultural and outdoor activities as one cohesive group.

We are looking for creative, fun-loving vols who love children and want to teach activities from their home country, such as games, songs, and dance. Vols will work with local adults and teenagers to teach a variety of activities including nature study (water life, forest mammals), outdoor adventure (kayaking, hiking, bicycling), performing arts (theater, music, dance, puppetry, circus acts), and visual arts (weaving, nature crafts, painting). Many of the children come from poor families and some suffer from emotional and behavioral problems.

Vershire, a very small, rural, town of 600 people spread out over 100 square kilometers in central Vermont. There are no shops or restaurants in town, no cell phone service or high-speed internet, but the scenery is beautiful and the people are friendly and welcoming. Lots of opportunity to interact with local residents and learn about life in rural Vermont, community dinners and entertainment, hikes in the surrounding hills, animal tracking, visits to local swimming holes, organic farms and nearby Dartmouth College (University.)

The first work week will offer a unique backcountry tent camping experience to build a new trail in a remote region of the park. The second work week will include campground maintenance projects based out of a roadside cabin facility. STUDY THEME: Environmental i Wilderness / Park Management

Baxter Park is a unique and beautiful 209,501acre wilderness preserve not far from the rugged and famous rocky coast of Maine, 2 hours north of Bangor. Hiking, swimming, canoeing, optional guided whitewater raft trip (US dollar55 separate fee), see moose, bear, loons, and other wildlife. Meet and share memorable experiences with other people. Discussions will focus on wilderness with park staff and knowledgeable guests.
Requirements:
Must bring a backpack, sturdy hiking boots, work gloves and rain gear. Willingness to work hard, Ability to hike up 8 miles/6 kilometers. No smoking in Park facilities. A complete gear list will be sent with the information sheet.
Can include reconstructing a hiking path by building stone structures (stairs, walls) and by digging tread ways and drainage ditches or helping rebuild a trail shelter. You will get muddy Learn trail building skills. Work safety is our highest priority.

Monday - Thursday nights at a primitive campsite in the mountains. Spend the days off at a base camp in town. Tents are provided.

Danby is 2 hours east of Albany, New York in southern Vermont. Explore Vermont swimming holes, historic villages, and forested mountains.
Requirements:
Bring hiking boots, backpack, sleeping bag (rated to 20 F/ -6 C) and sturdy work clothes. Work is physically demanding and is done outside in all weather. Volunteers must plan to arrive Rutland on the Sunday at the beginning of the session for orientation, and depart on the Saturday at the end of the session.
