This project is sponsored by VerShare, a community organization dedicated to improving life in the village of Vershire Vermont. Volunteers will work with local adults and teens at a community summer day camp for children ages 5-13. http://www.vershare.org. Work includes performing arts (theater, music, dance, puppetry, circus acts), visual arts (weaving, nature crafts, painting), nature study (water life, forest mammals) and outdoor adventure (kayaking, hiking, and rock-climbing). Many of the children come from poor families and some suffer from emotional and behavioral problems. We are looking for creative vols who love children and are willing to teach activities from their home country, such as games, songs, and dance.
Accomodation:
Volunteers will be housed in a historic house in Vershire Village.
Location:
Vershire, a very small town of 600 people spread out over 100 square kilometers in central Vermont. There are no shops or restaurants in town, but the scenery is beautiful and the people are friendly and welcoming. Lots of opportunity to interact with local residents and learn about life in rural Vermont, community dinners and entertainment, hikes in the surrounding hills, animal tracking, visits to local swimming holes, organic farms and nearby Dartmouth College (University.)

Special requirements:
Must speak ENGLISH WELL! Experience with children, performing arts and/or outdoor adventure is an asset. VFP MOTIVATION FORM REQUIRED. No smoking.
