Qoornoq is a settlement near the Greenlandic capital town Nuuk. The settlement is surrounded by great nature, and has an impressive wildlife. The settlement has for many years been the centre for cod fishing in Greenland. But as many places else in Greenland a lot of the buildings and infrastructure is decayed. The association Qoornoq Ikinngutai – Friends of Qoornoq, is dedicated to develop the settlement and the area surrounding it. In many years the association has worked hard to keep the settlement and surrounding area nice and tight. They has also been organising social activities and project, especially though the long cold and dark winter. At this year’s workcamp, the participants are, among other things, going to renovate the settlement’s very decayed water supply. But there are many projects that are waiting to be done, so it won’t lack of work to do. The participant will be accommodated in nice facilities in the settlement of Qoornoq, with kitchen and bath. Greenland’s nature is very spectacular, and there will be rich opportunity for arranging tours in the area.
