IPYL Palestine
International Palestinian Youth League is the Palestinian partner organisation of VAP.
The International Palestinian Youth League (IPYL) was established in May 1997 as a non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organization offering development services to Palestinian youth, and aims at empowering the youth sector against all social, political and economic challenges. IPYL is registered at the Ministry of the Interior under HB 304/CU. IPYL works under a broad remit aimed at the comprehensive development of the youth sector in the southern part of Palestine (the Hebron district).
The principal goals of IPYL are:
- To imbue young people with a spirit of independence, creativity and entrepreneurship in social, civic, cultural and environmental spheres and to encourage them to take an active role in their communities.
- To aid and assist the underprivileged sectors of Palestinian society, through the provision of training services, to better access educational opportunities and to find suitable employment.
- To promote awareness of the dangers of discrimination including xenophobia, sexism and all forms of racism and to reinforce the importance of equal opportunities in all sectors of society.
- To instill in young people the importance of democracy in the organization of society, and to enhance their awareness of the principles of human rights as elucidated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and related international covenants and agreements.
- To encourage young people to recognize the value of cultural diversity, to actively explore other cultures and belief-systems with an open mind and to work with the young people of neighboring countries to achieve a real peace in the region based on mutual respect, justice and equality.
IPYL Administration
The work of the League is guided by a seven-member board of Directors, who are responsible for interpreting the aims and objectives of the League, and for ensuring that the League acts within the guidelines of the IPYL constitution. The policies of the League are set by the General Assembly, composed of all League members, which meets once a year. The Leagues Board of Directors, consisting of a Secretary General, Treasurer and five other members, carries out the decisions of the General Assembly and implements the policies that it establishes.
