The project is developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Urban Development and Environment of the Government of the State of Yucatan, Mexico Wildlife Foundation and VIMEX AC. The photographic exhibition “ Blacklight Visions, depth images Yucatan, was an original idea of Dr. Adán Echeverría, the Secretary of Mexico Wildlife Foundation, which contains a photography collection that collects the best works from artists whose are dedicated to the photography and are committed with the nature photograph divulgation, education and dissemination of the species and natural species from Yucatán. Likewise, the artist´s appreciation in this exposition demonstrates us the scenic beauty that nature provides us, and also what it to art creation with its wealth. Through the expeditions, the artists expose surrounding features of the karstic systems (caverns and natural wells) and its biodiversity, they also capture human presence evidences since remote times.
OBJECTIVES:
Through the volunteer collective work, is achieved that the karstic resources acquire prominence facing the urgent need to preserve its conservation and reach a sustainable development, that contributes to restrain the climate change and to prevent ecological disasters.
WORK:
Expeditions to caves and “cenotes” will be made, all of them demarcated by the actions of Mexico Wildlife Foundation.
1. Expeditions to caves and cenotes depending on the program. 2. Rescue and cleanliness work in the visited áreas. 3. Evidences identification work. 4. Environmental Education and communitary work at the municipality of Chac, Sacalum, Yucatán. 5.- The volunteers will do rappel to go down of the caves and cenotes The Schedule will be as required by SEDUMA according to the activities undertaken as there day and night activities.
ACCOMODATION:
Accommodation will be in the house located in the Management and Conservation Wildlife Unit “Much Huh” in Sacalum, Yucatán. The volunteers will live in a rustic environment, in contact with the nature, they will clean up the house.
FOOD:
Meals will be cooked by the volunteers and, sometimes, by local women.
LANGUAGE:
Spanish (30 - 40% or more) will be welcome in order to be in touch with locals.
LOCATION:
In the Puuc Zone, located at the south of Yucatan from Sacalum to Texak municipalities.
LEISURE TIME:
Visits to mayan archaeological centers and to autochthonous communities.
REQUIREMENTS:
Your own photography equipment, to take a course (12 hours) in Charge Foundation SEDUMA and Mexico Silvestre in Mérida, Yucatán prior to the completion of volunteering, willingness for teamwork, dedication, responsibility and availability of live and share experiences with people from the community, know how to swim, not allergic to marine environments. Please bring clothes according with the activities. Please bring your own insurance.

REMARK:
You can take the Intensive Spanish Course that we offer to the volunteers in our camps before to go to it. See the information and conditions at the section of the Spanish Courses 2015. The meeting point will be at the VIMEX office before the camp starts because all the volunteers will go together to the project.
The Cuautla river is fed by the spring Los Sabinos-Santa Rosa-San Cristobal, which is a protected natural area and provides drinking water to 19 colonies of the municipality. To protect this heritage and promoting ecosystem conservation, preserving its natural beauty, regulate urban growth and population pressure exerted on the banks of the river and the area Cuautla springs, standardize and streamline production activities and protect the recharge zone of aquifers, various actions involving all sectors of the population of this city are necessary. The objectives of this international volunteering workcamp are to help improve the quality of life and environment for the inhabitants of ANP, promote the development of recreational and tourism activities on the landscape scenarios because the springs, flora and fauna constitute an attraction for people of Cuautla and Ayala, and develop integrated sanitation actions in the Cuautla River.
WORK:
Volunteers will do some mapping in the area in order to identify the problems of this Protected Natural Area, they will participate in the production of aromatic plants, perform cleaning work in the channel and slopes longing the river; will develop awareness-raising workshops on management and care of Protected Natural Area; will participate in the design of murals for the care of Protected Natural Area; will conduct visits to historical and cultural sites in the region and establish exchange of experiences with people to generate alternative solutions to environmental problems.
LOCATION:
Cuautla is located 2 hrs. south of Mexico City.
ACCOMMODATION:
Volunteers will be staying at a house adapted with all basic services.
REQUIREMENTS :
Interest in the themes of Environment, Social and Arts.
PARTICIPATION FEE:
$3,000 pesos (approx. £135), includes accommodation and food and some organisational costs.
