The San José Educational Eco-Park, is a natural reserve and an educational park and is part of the State Natural History Institute of Chiapas. This has as mission the protection, preservation and exhibition of the flora and fauna of the region of the highlands of Chiapas. In 2008, the IHN and Nataté started the project "RECREARTE" (Redesigning, Growth and Regional Interaction, Ecotourism) in order to rehabilitate and expand the structure of the park, the spaces not used to transform them into an eco-cultural and educational place with activities that contribute to the conservation of natural resources in the region and sustainable lifestyles.
WORK:
Volunteers participate in a puppet performance - "Knowing the Biodiversity of Los Altos de Chiapas". They will...
1. Develop a script about the biological diversity (flora and fauna, and ecosystems) of the Highlands of Chiapas, focusing on the existing information and the problematic of the species in the region;
2. Make puppets with flora and fauna species in the region;
3. Prepare the scenario in which the main ecosystems of the highland region of Chiapas will be represented;
4. Make a performance of the work for the public visiting the park as well to special guests. Some improvement work might be carried out if time allows it.

Educational Development Sueniños A.C. is developing an educational project in the summer in two marginalized neighbourhoods located on the outskirts of the city of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas. The volunteers will develop leisure, formative and educational activities with children in an elementary and in a secondary school. Based in “Street Theatre”, the group will set up workshops that will allow them to build a moving circus.
