TA-TU-TA, is the Turkish abbreviation for the Tar?m (Agriculture) – Turizm (Tourism) – Takas (Exchange) project run by our partner Bugday Association for Supporting Ecological Living. This programme aims at raising environmental awareness, promoting organic agriculture, and generating models of healthy, fair and sustainable consumption.
Who can participate? The participants of TA-TU-TA are divided into three different types - VOLUNTEERS, PAYING GUESTS and INTERNS.
VOLUNTEERS:
Live together with the farmer families and help them in their daily work and receive free board & lodging for a minimum 2 weeks stay. This is an ongoing project therefore it is possible to join one of the farms throughout the year.
REGISTRATION PROCESS:
GENÇTUR arranges all the placements within TA-TU-TA Programme as agreed with Bu?day Association. All volunteers, visitors or interns should apply through voluntary workcamp partners of GENÇTUR (VAP in the case of UK). Placements are done according to availability of each farm. Thus all applicants should give at least 3 different farm choices or periods. Departures should be arranged from Istanbul on the 1st or the 3rd Mondays of each month. All participants have to join in an orientation meeting run by GENÇTUR on these days. This is compulsory to get information about cultural differences and helpful to travel together with the other participants if any.
HOSTING FEE:
There is a flat inscription fee of 30 Euro, to be paid in cash on arrival to GENÇTUR by all participants of any kind like volunteer, visitor or intern. A single payment makes possible to join in more than 1 farm in different periods. Paid inscription fees are not refunded after being in the farm in case of cancellations made by the participants.
« I would recommend participating in a workcamp, especially with VAP, who ensured that I found a project to suit me and provided essential training for me in preparation for my trip. Being part of a workcamp really is a life-changing experience, oh, and it looks great on your CV! »
