This project is the result of years of collaboration between Fundació Escolta Josep Carol and Alcarràs council and aims to promote the cultural heritage and civic participation. The old paths are part of the cultural heritage which needs to be revalued and preserved. In one of the old paths there is a flour mill of XII century. Over time this mill has been damaged, it is full of vegetation and the only way to get there is through these old paths that need signposting. This workcamp aims to create paths and to restore the vegetal environment to promote the cultural heritage of Alcarras.
Work:
The technical work of this workcamp will be focused on recovering the cultural heritage. The volunteers will work on the agricultural roads, creating routes and signalization to arrive to the mill and the bridge. They will work on the preservation of the mill cleaning the vegetation area and improving its access, excavate the interior part of the mill, classify the architectonical pieces found and learn techniques of architectural drawing. The participants will be involved in the promotion of the historic memory of the village and its population.
