Contrebia Leucade is one of the most spectacular and significant archaeological sites in pre-Roman Spain. The monumentality and the exceptional state of conservation exerts a great attraction and suggestion on the visitors and provides information hardly observable in other archaeological sites on the Roman conquest of Hispania and what it meant for the indigenous communities. In the third century BC, the city of Contrebia Leucade was founded. Its impressive defensive system is built and the interior is urbanized based on alignments of houses and carved streets, partly important, on the slopes of the mountain.
