Renovation and reconstruction of an old historical farm building near the ruins of the Sklabina Castle from the 13th century. Main activities will be moving of building materials, gardening works (cutting grass, preparing wood for winter), taking care of livestock (goats) and garden and amateurish archeology. Volunteers will work on scaffold and help with painting the building with new face. The volunteers will pass special training for working on scaffold under the supervision of technician.The camp duration is 3/7/11 - 16/7/11 but the local partner is inviting the volunteers to stay longer up to 24/7/11 offering them food and accommodation with no extra fee. If you need visa please let us know in advance. If not please tell the local partner during the workcamp.
Accomodation & food:
Lodging will be provided where the workcamp will take place, in an old building. Sleeping bag and mat are needed. The volunteers will prepare all the meals by themselves from supplies provided from the garden near the house and from goats. Vegetarian or gluten-free catering is NOT possible.

The village Sklabina is situated about 230 km north - east from Bratislava, close to the city Martin. It is surrounded by amazing nature (Low Fatra Mountains). The castle Sklabina and the place of the workcamp is around one km far from the village.

Reconstruction works in the area of a perished medieval castle i Black Castle . It will involve manual works on the remains of the castle, such as walling, preparing the mortar, cleaning the area, sawing fallen trees and branches. The volunteers will assist the archaeologists with the research (digging in the archaeological probe, sifting the rubble and look for artifacts, cleaning of the archaeological finds).
Accomodation & food:
Lodging will be provided in tents. Warm sleeping bag and mat are needed. The camp is located in a garden at the edge of the forest. Next the garden is a house with all basic hygiene facilities. Be ready to stay in a village with poor mobile phone network, but a phonebooth available. The kitchen within the house will be used by the volunteers to prepare the meals themselves. Vegetarian catering is possible.

The place of camp is situated in the village of Zlatno, 17km east-north from town Zlate Moravce, app. 130 km east from Bratislava. Zlatno was one of many villages in Slovakia known for goldwashing in the middle ages. This was also a reason, why a castle was built at such a remote place, far from the trading routes and cities.

Revitalizing the old ruins of the Saris Castle in Slovak Carpathians: renovation works, cleaning the area, making wooden fences, taking care of livestock (goats), recording of local fauna and flora.

The Saris Castle is situated on the top of 300 m high volcanic hill upon the river Torysa, it is part of protected nature reserve. However it is 3 km far from the civilization so there is no electricity, no water-supply and no public transport. Lodging will be provided in one castle tower, sleeping on wooden beds - warm sleeping bag and mat are needed. Common soldier tent, field kitchen, dry toilet, solar showers and drinking water will be provided. Meal will be prepared by the volunteers themselves, it is necessary to bring own plate, cup and cutlery. Vegetarian catering is possible.

Velky Saris is a little town near Presov located in the Eastern part of Slovakia. From Velky Saris you can get by feet to the ruins of the Saris Castle i the place of the workcamp.

The work will be done at the Calvary i mostly environmental and manual activities i picking the stones, cleaning the place, and cutting. The volunteers will help with the manual and gardening works in the area of Scout House.

The old mining and gold city Banska Stiavnica is located about 180 km east of Bratislava. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains and nature. Banska Stiavnica is very interesting city from a historical point of view. The whole city is like a giant hill.
Requirements:
You should bring sleeping bag, warm clothes, raincoat, working clothes and gloves, swimming suit and a smile on the lips.
The work will be done on the Eco center (former kindergarten) i cleaning, painting, renovation of windows, floor. The volunteers will take care for herbal garden and fruit grove and will help with renovation of old well by using traditional techniques. A solar dryer of fruit will be done by volunteers during the camp too.

The volunteers will stay in Ecocenter (before used as a kindergarten) with rooms for sleeping on the matrasses, solar shower, dry toilets, kitchen and cold chamber. There is also possibility to sleep outside in tents for nature lovers. Meal will be prepared by the volunteers themselves. The food will be mostly vegetarian.

The volunteers will help with monitoring of the birds. The work will be also environmental works in bird reservation (raking, making hays, cutting grass, cleaning). The volunteers will help with reconstruction of the walking paths and of an ornithological building and with building of eco-farm. The part of the job will be maintenance of observatory towers.

The volunteers will help with environmental activities around the ruins of the castle Hanigov (cleaning the place from vegetation), help with masonry and rescuing works on the castle (storing and sorting of stones) and with archeological research.

The Hanigov Castle is situated on the west slopes of Cerhov Mountains. Although it is 2 km far from the civilization there will be access to electricity and water-supply. Lodging will be provided in outdoor tents - warm sleeping bag and mat are needed. Common soldier tent, field kitchen, dry toilet, solar showers and drinking water will be provided. Meal will be prepared by the volunteers themselves, it is necessary to bring own plate, cup and cutlery. Vegetarian catering is possible.

The castle is located between villages Milpos and Hanigovce. They are villages near Sabinov (15 km far away) located in the Eastern part of Slovakia. The nearest big city is Presov. From Milpos (1,5 km) or Hanigovce (2,5 km) you can get by feet to the ruins of the Hanigov Castle i the place of the workcamp.

Reconstruction works in the area of an ancient castle i Brekov . It will involve manual masonry works. Cleaning environmental works will be also part of the work.

Lodging will be provided in the lodging house; in case of good weather lodging will be provided in tents on the grounds of the castle. Food will be provided by local volunteers.

Brekov is a village near Humenne in the Presov Region of north-east Slovakia. The ruins of the Brekov castle (castle from the 13th century), are located on the hill above the village and are in good shape. Brekov Castle was built around 650 AD by the Slavonic nations. The first stone buildings were built much later. During the next centuries started to be important guard castle for Hungarian Empire and whole region.
