Serbia once was a part of the great Roman Empire. Some of the emperors were born in Eastern Serbia where important archaeological sites still exist, such as Viminacium, Felix Romuliana, Timacum Minus. Knjazevac is a region of indescribable beauty, a mixture of ethno motifs and tradition with these late Roman archaeological sites and monuments. The Regional Museum in Knjazevac is in charge of preserving Timacum Minus and as the host of this workcamp plans to involve cultural diversity of a workcamp in its promotion.
Work:
Volunteers will work close to this late–antique Timacum Minus site, cleaning the site of invasive weeds and plants. Besides this, volunteers will work on mapping the fishermen path along the river and mapping the fishing sites, with particular emphasis on the preservation of nature. Volunteers will also be making souvenirs - replicas of antique jewelry found on Timacum Minus, using modern materials. Their work will be presented at the final exhibition and included in the site brochure later on.
