This workcamp will be focused on the theme of community development, particularly on contributing to the recovery of the space and structures of a local kindergarten. There will be a total of 20 participants from all over the world, 3 leaders and 1 coordinator.
Main objectives:
1. To promote the intercultural learning through the contact with youngsters from different cultural backgrounds and activities designed to stimulate that; 2. To promote peer to peer learning (there's the intention that the participants bring their own ideas, strategies and knowledge to share with the rest of the group members); 3. To stimulate tolerance (namely in what concerns the local population, through the contact with different people coming from different countries); 4. To motivate youngsters to a more active life style and participation in society, through the involvement in this kind of initiatives connected with volunteer work, 5. To contribute to a visible positive change in the local community, through the work done by the participants.
Specific objectives:
- Contribute for an improvement of the kindergarten; - Promote awareness among youngsters and local community to the importance of a good maintenance of the school facilities; - To increase participant's knowledge in what concerns methods, techniques and tools to be used during the painting of the kindergarten facilities and maintenance of the outdoor spaces.
Work:
- Fixing the outside space; - Painting inside and outside of the building; - Build birds nest; - Activities with children; - Video about the workcamp;
We also would like to ask you to prepare/think of a small workshop which you could present to the group. Try to keep in mind that it should be something simple and connected with the main theme of the workcamp. Something that you would like to share with others! Volunteers will be working around 30 hours per week.
Accommodation and Food:
The participants will be sleeping at "Colónia Balnear O Século" in wards of 6 people. The participants will have their meals at this place. http://www.oseculo.org/

Rota Jovem is a non-profit Youth Association developing activities at local, national and international level. It aims at giving youngsters the opportunity to: take part and develop by themselves activities related to environment, arts, culture, sports, etc.; developing skills and citizenship values.
Accommodation, food, local transports, local insurance and activities will be covered by the organisation with the support of Cascais Municipality. The volunteer must support the full costs of his/her international travel to Cascais.

• To contribute to a general improvement of “Ludoteca do Alcoitão” - playtime workshop; • To promote awareness among volunteers and local community in relation to the importance of a good maintenance of “Ludoteca do Alcoitão”; • To promote the intergenerational relationship among volunteers, local community from the neighbourhood and the attenders of “Ludoteca do Alcoitão”; • Stimulate youngsters for the development of creativity and artistic competences.
Work:
• Renovation of the “Ludoteca do Alcoitão” green surrounding spaces • Renovation of the park tables; • Renovation of the table tennis near the park; • Building a pergola; • Exterior furniture; • Walls painting and humidity treatment; • Building exterior games; • Video about the workcamp;
