Clube Recreativo de São Joaninho is a public association with the recognised as an Entity of Public Utility since 1993. The club has 36 years of age and is a quality reference with intervention at local and regional levels. It develops projects in music, theatre and folklore areas, which have profound roots in the village. Nevertheless, the association extended its intervention to themes such as Diversity and Equality of Opportunities, European Conscientiousness, Intercultural Learning and Professional Training. The association promotes several initiatives of communitarian intervention and leisure time occupation, targeting children and young people in social exclusion but also their families and the whole community.
Info about the Camp:
The objectives of the camp are connected to the awareness of the vital importance of the forest heritage at personal, social, economical and ecological levels, to know it, to value it and protect it, through 2 weeks of international and intercultural exchange with international volunteers. This project intends, by congregating youth from different countries, that feel this problem of the destruction of the world's forests, as a responsibility that must be shared, to foster a reflexion.
The tasks of the volunteers will consist in building an observation tower, elaboration of a video, photographs, posters and flyers, joining the fire surveillance police team (GIPS/GNR) and help them in cleaning the surrounding areas of the neighbourhoods; forest surveillance inside the tower and the production of a mobile exhibition. During the camp volunteers will work at most five hours a day.
Leisure activities:
Free time will also be arranged by volunteers with the help of the members of the Association as well as the animation time.
Accommodation/Food:
In a Youth Centre with several dormitories; main meals can be made by the volunteers and the animators, in the Youth Centre which is properly equipped with a kitchen and dining room, or served in a Restaurant. Volunteers should inform if they have special needs, such as vegetarian diet or other, mobility needs, etc.
