FIYE 103 JEDRUS 2 Michalin 27.06-10.07 envi 12 18-26 WORK: Volunteers will support the pro-environmental efforts of the local community The work will include tidying up the area, identifying dead trees for cutting down, recording the tree areas in the city, removing branches, garbage and other manual works in surrounding forests and the bank of the river Swider. Another task will be associated with the theme ‘Jozefow in the eyes of the volunteers', and it will include taking photos of interesting places in the town. ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will stay on the premises of the boarding school, in rooms equipped with all standard facilities - beds and sheets will be provided so there is no need to bring mattresses or sleeping bags. There is also a washing machine. During the week the meals will be served. At weekends volunteers may need to prepare their own meals, from the products bought by the host (the volunteers will have access to the kitchen). LOCATION: Michalin is a small town near Warsaw, located along the Swider river and surrounded by the Mazovian Landscape Park. FIYE 5 GALEWICE Galewice 18.07-31.07 envi/reno 10 18-26 TO BE CONFIRMED BY April 15th! The workcamp will be hosted by the Galewice community, which would appreciate the volunteers' help in restoring its historic park. The park was established in the second half of the 19th century around a classical manor. After the 2nd world war the estate has been turned into a school, and nowadays it is the premises of the local kindergarten. Every year local festivals are held in the park, and it is also a popular leisure and recreational destination. WORK: The volunteers will clean the park, cut bushes and weed, do some groundwork and paint the benches. It is also possible that the volunteers will do some similar maintenance tasks in other parts of the Galewice community. ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will be accommodated in a school building. They are required to bring sleeping bags and mats. Hot meals will be served in a canteen. Volunteers might be asked to prepare their breakfasts and suppers from products provided by the organizer. FIYE 7 WIELISZEW 1 Wieliszew 23.07-8.08 envi/fest/kids 15 18-26 WORK: The first workcamp (FIYE 7) will help in setting up a poetic music festival, which takes place on 24 of July. After the festival the volunteer will help in cleaning up after the festival. The second group (FIYE 12) will help in setting up the folk music festival which takes place 21-22 August, and will also clean after the event. Both groups will also organize various activities for kids on the beach of the Zegrzynski Lake and will be responsible for cleaning of the bank of river Narew, tourist paths and the Wieliszewskie Legi Nature Reserve. ACCOMMODATION: Volunteers will stay in the school building and sleep in classrooms. Mattresses will be provided but volunteers have to bring sleeping bags. The participants will be preparing all their meals from food provided by the organizer. LOCATION: Wieliszew is situated 30 km north of Warsaw, by the Zegrzynskie Lake and the Narew River. With its forest and lake it is a perfect place for holiday activities such as canoeing, jogging, cycling or paragliding. FIYE 14 OTOP Gugny 8.08-21.08 envi 10 18-26 WORK: The work will be getting rid of plants, bushes and small trees, which are not good for bird protection. This work will demand a lot of effort since the cut branches will be used to build a road in the reservoir. Some of these branches will be quite big and heavy. There might be also some other maintenance tasks, depending on the agreement with the local coordinator. The workcamp will be situated far away from a big city, and it's a great place for nature lovers. ACCOMMODATION: In a guesthouse with a bathroom and a shower. Beds will be provided but volunteers must bring a sleeping bag. FOOD: Volunteers will prepare all the meals themselves with the products bought by the organizers. There will be a fridge and cooking facilities in the accommodation. LOCATION: Gugny is a village in the north-east of Poland, 60 km from Bialystok. http://www.biebrza.org.pl/ TERMINAL: The nearest international airport is in Warsaw. The nearest train station is located in Bialystok. Bialystok is 2,5h by train from Warsaw. LANGUAGE: English SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Motivation letter. The work will be physically hard and sometimes demanding, and the group will work in wet area. Volunteers must bring waterproof shoes, and shoes on thick soles which will protect them from stepping on hard reed. It's quite warm in August so there will be many mosquitoes, and in the forests there are ticks. Therefore volunteers should bring long sleeved shirts and long trousers and mosquito repellent. This camp is not suitable for people with severe allergies.
