The international volunteers will be helping the staff and numerous national volunteers work with Saharawi children (6-11 years old) with different kinds of disabilities (physical, cognitive, mental, sensory, emotional, developmental). This means that in most of the cases the kids are not self-sufficient. Daily activities of the international volunteers will include the following: feeding the children (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks), getting them dressed, changing the diapers, washing them, helping clean the school, cooking together. But also we need volunteers to come with a lot of energy to play, run and push a wheelchair for races or go to the beach with the children. The shifts during the day and night will be very flexible (to be arranged with the campleader and with local volunteers) so flexibility and adaptability are strongly required. English will be the working language of the workcamp but any language skills are welcome Along with English, the main spoken languages in the workcamp usually are: Italian (most of our volunteers are local), Spanish (Western Sahara used to be a Spanish colony before the Moroccan occupation and the leaders that come with the kids are fluent Spanish speakers) and, of course, Hassaniya, the arabic dialect the kids speak. Nevertheless, don't worry, you will manage to understand the kids, some of them speak fluent Italian and there will be a lot of interprets to help

The international volunteers will be hosted at the primary school in the city centre along with the national volunteers and the children. The school is equipped with: 5 shared bedrooms that will be appropriately separated for girls and boys, and the kids; bathrooms and a shower for each bedroom common bathrooms; dining room; kitchen; common areas: two halls for activities; gardens with games around the building; Feldenkrais room for the children physical therapy. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided at the canteen by the hosting organization.

Grottammare is a really nice seaside town of 15.000 inhabitants on Italy s Adriatic coast, in the province of Ascoli Piceno, Marche region.Nearest airports are ROME (Ciampino or Fiumicino), BOLOGNA and ANCONA. Grottammare bus station is the nearest terminal.
Requirements:
Project-related motivation letter is required. We don t need people with specific curriculum but aware about the topic and really motivated to contribute to the project. Any qualification or previous experience as nurse, physiotherapist or educator etc. is very welcome.
The international volunteers will support the social workers and civic service volunteers in the activities organized for the disabled people: games, workshops and tasks aimed to encourage self expression, communication and interpersonal relationships through singing, music, drawing and painting, beauty salon, handicraft with recycling paper, swimming pool, day-trips and home cleaning. Volunteers may also be engaged in keeping a small vegetable garden. The volunteers will work from 9 am to 4 pm from Monday to Friday. The international volunteers and the workcamp leader will stay alone in Odoardina after 5 pm and during the weekends. Please bring games, good ideas and whatever you can use to create a nice atmosphere in the spare time and weekends.
Accomodation & food:
The international volunteers will live in an apartment with a kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom. The apartment and the day care centre are located in a big ancient countryside house surrounded by beautiful camps and farms, 6 km away from Reggio Emilia. During the working days, the lunch is organized with the staff and the clients of the day care centre. The volunteers will have a budget to manage breakfasts, dinners (and also lunches during weekends). Sleeping bags are required.

Odoardina is situated in the countryside and is quite isolated from the city (6km from Reggio Emilia). There is no public transport in the late evening and in the night from/to Reggio Emilia. Some bicycles may be available for the volunteers. The weekends are free and the group of international volunteers can organize visits to beautiful cities such as Reggio Emilia, Parma and Bologna but the costs of the visits are not covered by the project. Reggio Emilia is the nearest train station. Milan and Bologna are the nearest airports.

Volunteers will sleep in the meeting room of the residential centre Stradora. The room is situated on the 2nd floor of the building and it is separated from the living space of the residents. All hygienic services are provided. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.

Scandiano is a small town of 25.000 people close to Reggio Emilia (13 Km), in Emilia Romagna region. The care centres Stradora, Benzi and Mago are quite isolated and there is no public transport to the Scandiano city centre but it can be reached by walk (approx. 2km). There is no public transport in the late evening and in the night from/to Reggio Emilia. The weekends are free and the group of international volunteers can organize visits to beautiful cities such as Reggio Emilia, Parma and Bologna but the costs of the visits are not covered by the project. Reggio Emilia is the nearest train station. Milan and Bologna are the nearest airports.
The international volunteers will help the families and the staff of national volunteers to work with Saharawi children (6 -11 years old) with different kinds of disabilities (physical, cognitive, mental, sensory, emotional, developmental). Sometimes it means that the kids are not self-sufficient. Daily activities of the international volunteers will include the following: educational and animation activities with Italian and Saharawi children aimed to facilitate inclusion and group cohesion, feeding the children (lunch, snacks), cleaning and organize Villaggio Arcobaleno centre, organizing outdoor activities with the children, cooking together, restoring the building and gardening. But also we need volunteers to come with a lot of energy to play, run and go to the beach with the children. During the morning the volunteers will make activities with the children and in the afternoon they will make some renovation, manual and creative works in the Villaggio Arcobaleno centre.

The Saharawi children will be hosted in some families near Tricase but they will come everyday, with local children too, for the daily activities. The hosting place is equipped with 2 shared bedrooms; 2 bathrooms with a shower for each one; dining room; kitchen; common areas: two halls for activities; garden with trees and a lot of green and relaxing shadow. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided at the canteen by the hosting organization and the volunteers will arrange cooking and cleaning dishes teams everyday.
