The "Prima del Dopo Foundation” was born in 2004 on the base of more than forty years experience of “Capodarco Community” for disabled people. The aim of "Prima del Dopo" is to support and provide tools for families in which disabled people live. Without a process of self awareness they would run the risk of being unprepared when their parents would no longer be able to look after them. It is 1 year already that the "Prima del Dopo Foundation" started working for the autonomy of disabled people thanks to a “Family home” called "Milly y Memmo" in Grottaferrata (near Rome), where they will experience an autonomy process and a form of community life. Currently about 30 young people with learning disabilities and their family are involved in the project both during the day and during some residential weekends, thanks to a team of 4 professional figures and 10 volunteers operators. Near the Family home there are some social cooperatives that works for the integration of disabled people, a farm, a restaurant where they work with disabilities, other family houses, a Professional Training Centre, a nursery, a shop of organic food and fair-trade.

« I would recommend participating in a workcamp, especially with VAP, who ensured that I found a project to suit me and provided essential training for me in preparation for my trip. Being part of a workcamp really is a life-changing experience, oh, and it looks great on your CV! »
