The project aims to reinforce the role of organized civil society in combating and preventing crime and fostering the co-operation between the law enforcement system and civil society. It will involve 143 participants from 5 countries (50 of them with fewer opportunities) in activities connected to the promotion of culture of legality, promoting their civic commitment and their awareness on their role of active citizens toward crime prevention.
The project, is focused on two main activities: - an international seminar on the role of civil society in combating and preventing crime and possible cooperation with the law enforcement institutions. - the participation of an international group of citizens to the celebrations and the initiatives connected with the 19th anniversary of the murder of the judge Giovanni Falcone, killed by mafia.
During the vent, the participant will take part in all the activities connected to the anniversary, having debates and exchanges with Sicilian participants, meeteing students, taking part in the so called Boat of legality which bring 2.000 Italian students to the celebrations. This last event organized in the past only for Italian participant, has normally a wide media coverage, with more than 800 accredited journalist from all over the world, thus providing a very high visibility to the project and the Europe for Citizens programme.
Accomodation & food:
Participants will partially stay in a youth hostel in Palermo and partially (two days) on the so called Boat of Legality.
Location & leisure:
Palermo and its surroundings. The programme foresee quite intensive meetings. Evenings are free to join night life in the city.
Requirements:
Interest in the specific subject to be expressed in the special application form.
Volunteers will be mainly working in the botanical reserve assisted by the Park staff. In addition, they will join a research on a rare kind of local animal and promote events addressed to local people and tourists.

Volunteers will be hosted in a guesthouse in the mountain.
Language:
English will be the official language of the work camp.

Orio al Serio (Bergamo) International Airport / Bergamo Railway Station.
Special Remarks:
Volunteers will be living in the MOUNTAIN, not so close to the town. The place is reachable by car but it is not very comfortable.
Location & leisure:
Ardesio, Bergamo district, Lombardia region, North of Italy.
Under the supervision of the reserves staff, volunteers will be involved in collecting the rubbish and in removing weeds from thebeaches. Moreover, they will also assist the parks staff in bird ringing activities.

Volunteers will be hosted in a guesthouse.
Language:
English will be the official language of the work camp.

Location & leisure:
The natural reserve of Pian di Spagna is one of the largest Reserves of Lombardy as well as one of the most important swampy zonesin the whole Alps.
