The Lamon plateau is placed nearby the Primiero Dolomites and the Belluno Dolomites National Park. Legambiente manages an Environmental Educational Centre nearby the village of Lamon. Since several years it deals with activities concerning the territory, excursions as well as meetings with the local population in order to get in touch with local culture and former crafts. Volunteers will join these activities and they will take care of the territory and of the footpaths of the area in collaboration with the local population.
Work:
Volunteers will be involved in paths’ maintenance together with the local community of Lamon. In addition, they will have the possibility to visit ancient places and to participate at some demonstrations of former crafts.
Location:
Lamon is a municipality in the Province of Belluno in the Italian region Veneto, located about 80 km northwest of Venice and about 35 km west of Belluno.

Volunteers will be hosted in a building, former primary school of Lamon.

The volunteers will be working in both the garden and the kitchen garden of the farm and also doing some maintenance in the pinewood nearby.
ACCOMMODATION:
The farm will provide the volunteers with a room to sleep, but it is necessary to bring sleeping bags. The volunteers will cook for themselves in the farm kitchen. There will be bathrooms and showers with hot water available.
The volunteers will be involved in all the activities of the farm: sowing seeds, planting, gathering fruits and vegetables, getting rid of the slugs, making conserves, soap, bread, working with wood, do some reconstruction works on the old house. It will also be possible to lead games with children and go to the local market to sell the goods produced on the farm.

Erice is a small city, split into two different areas. The new part is near the sea, the old part is on the top of a hill. Volunteers will work some days on the rocky shores of the seaside cleaning them and some days on the top of the hill, in the woods surrounding an old medieval castle, cleaning a historical path.

Volunteers will be hosted in the city sports hall, sharing the same big room. Separate WC and shower-room for males and females are provided. Volunteers will cook by themselves.
The work will take place in a natural reserve with many rare species of birds and plants. The volunteers will clean the area of the natural reserve and do shifts of fire control which involves patrolling different parts of the area and checking that there’s no fire.
