The small organic farm run by the cooperative LiberaMente is located in the town of Partinico, some 40 km far from Palermo, Northern Sicily. It is located in a peaceful setting in a green valley amidst olive and lemon trees. In the proximity there one of the most beautiful part of the Sicilian coast, the sea is not far (by car) and there are plenty of beautiful towns and touristic attractions in the area. In the property of the farm there are some horses as well.

The refuge Le Cave is an environmental education center in which ecotourism paths and environmental education to students are organized. Volunteers will work to enhance the structure and to make it more comfortable; they will work for recovering and securing internal spaces of the structure, will provide firewood, clean paths. Work:
The adults will clean the surrounding forested areas and will collect firewood and branches for the boiler of the refuge. They will also work for recovering and making safe internal spaces of the structure. Children will be involved in the work of adults and they also will build games and organize workshops for other children using recycled material and material collected from the forest. The games built will be used in environmental education activities.
Study part:
Exploration and Listening to the forest- awareness activities about energy conservation - Hiking - Stories, tales and traditions of the past.

The structure is a stone building completely restored. There are 5 dormitories and 24 beds, a kitchen, a dining room and spacious common areas inside and outside.

In the heart of the Tuscan Apennines, in 1998 was established the Natural Reserve-Cantagallo. In the reserve to 795 mt. is the Refuge Cascina the Cave. Ideal place to experience nature, to discover the flora and typical fauna of the area, starting point for for wonderful hikes.

Volunteers will mainly be involved in light cleaning works on the shores, restoring old traditional stone walls, cleaning dry areas of the islands of Favignana, Marettimo and Levanzo. According to weather conditions and availability of local guides, they will also support the cleaning and management of Giardini ipogei , typical inside mountain gardens developed inside ancient stone caves. http://www.welcometoegadi.it/index.php?lang=enOnce per each camp volunteers will also be required to organize environmental awareness raising activities addressed to local and tourists.Volunteers will in the end be required to make photos for a final video about all the camps to be held in the archipelago.
Accomodation & food:
Volunteers will be hosted inside classrooms of a local school with inflatable mattress (provided) and sleeping bag (not provided). They will cook by themselves in the school with provided food. The school is equipped with several toilets and shower.
Location & leisure:
Egadi Islands are one of the most beautiful area of souther Italy, considered as a Paradise of sea wildlife. Beside the wonderful sea, the three islands offers wonderfull environment. The islands are just 40 minutes far from the western cost of Sicily with its archaeological sites, natural reserves and many more attractions.
Volunteers will be involved mainly in the creation of one organic garden. Planning and creation of one area for growing officinal herbs. Renovation and creation of animal sheds. Renovation of guest-area (some maintenance works, carpentry, art, painting...)
Accomodation & food:
Dormitory (remember to bring a camping mat). The family will cook for the volunteers.
Location & leisure:
The local towns are 20 minutes walking distance from the farm and from there it is possible to take public transportation to visit the beautiful and peaceful surrounding.
Requirements:
Interest in outdoor activities and organic farming and environment. Bring rain coat, working clothes, long trousers to work in the field and comfortable shoes.
During the workcamp volunteers will be involved in the daily activities of Bagolaro. They will have the opportunity to live and work following the natural pace of the place, in connection with the nature, learning the meaning and the beauty of agricultural work and the concept of sustainability. Volunteers will help setting up a yurta or gher (the traditional house of nomads from Mongolia) that will be used for the workshops periodically organized by Bagolaro. Also they will work in the wineyards, tiding up the plants and preparing the fields.
Accomodation & food:
Accomodation will be in shared tents in the garden of the farm (provided by the local partner). Running water and hot showers are available.
Location & leisure:
It is possible to walk around the beautiful hills and natural surroundings. Bagolaro is not far from the Vulcan Etna, Taormina, Catania, Castiglione and other tourist places.

Legambiente has been working for years with the Park Monte Barro for the enhancement and preservation of biodiversity. Since two years ago the local group is also managing the hostel, hotel can accommodate up to 50 people.
The objective of the camp is to preserve some of the botanical species at risk of extinction.
Legambiente local group - The Legambiente Lecco Onlus association originated in 1978 as Committee for the Protection of the Environment, and since 1987 it is part of Legambiente. The Legambiente Lecco Onlus association operates mainly in the context of the district of Lecco, in addition of being the office of the regional coordination of Legambiente voluntary committe. Since 2008, Legambiente Lecco manages four "Houses in the Forest". In March 2013 Legambiente won the call for the management of the Parco Monte Barro Hostel and for environmental education activities within the same Regional Park. The Legambiente Lecco group has about 200 members, 3 permanent employees, a project of the National Civil Service and several collaborations with partner organizations and institutions.
Work:
The volunteers will be manually removing weeds on the top of the mountain to encourage the breeding of rare flowers which makes the Park an extraordinary natural botanical garden.
Accommodation and food:
volunteers will be hosted in a hostel, with room for two and three beds. Some food will be bought from local farmers and cooked at the hostel by volunteers.
Location and leisure:
Galbiate (Lecco), Lombardia region. The camp takes place in the mountains. In their free time volunteers can visit the two museums in the Park, the archaeological excavations and visit the town of Lecco and its lake in collaboration with botanists of the park, they will explore the topics of the European "Natura 2000" for the protection of biodiversity.
Special requirements:
Ability and predisposition to walk and work on mountain paths, interest in nature.
