Volunteers will work on pieces of furniture and home appliances that need repairs, refinish or refurbish the pieces (eg. chairs, tables, sofa etc.), and prepare broken items and clean them (eg. washing machine, mixers etc.) in order to be functional and equip the houses of families that are threatened by the crisis. Volunteers might be asked to help collecting and transporting the pieces of furniture and home appliances to the workshop where they will work.The short term impact of our activities will be the support of a number of households that are facing a series of difficulties, though the long term will be to set the basis for a social economy with solidarity. With the renovated housing material we will support the needs of social structures or families around the area of Kypseli, as it is in this area that the youth center is focusing its actions.Additionally volunteers will participate in actions to create awareness of the project and the families in need. Technical leaders will support the volunteers by giving instructions, showing and providing the tools, while trained leaders of ELIX will be responsible for the group life.
Accomodation & food:
Volunteers will be accommodated in the centre of Athens. Details will follow in the next month. The preparation of all the meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and the cleaning of the common spaces will be done by different volunteers every day (in shifts).

There is a lot to do in this city with an active nightlife, many bars and cafes and museums for those who enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere. Sites like the White Tower, the Archaeological Museum, the AtatU? U?U?rk House, the Olympic Museum, The Ancient Forum, the Museum of Cinematography in Thessaloniki as well as many other are all popular places to visit within the City.Volunteers will discuss their free time activities with their camp leaders; together they are going to organize excursions and visits. In their free time, participants will have the opportunity to get in touch with the everyday life of the city.
