Your help is needed to plan, organize, and run a large game festival for children, youth, and families in Ingolstadt, from May 29 until June 6, 2012. On the Fronte 79 grounds you will be taking care of the children while running various game stations with different creative, musical, artistic, and adventure pedagogical offerings. Please bring game and craft ideas from your home countries The game festival is the opening ceremony of the Game Offerings 2012 (Spielmobilangebote 2012) of the Youth Department of the city of Ingolstadt (www.sjr-in.de). Note: During the first week you will have time to prepare the program and get to know one another, as well as explore the surrounding area. From May 29th until June 6th you will be working 8 hours a day (including weekends), which will probably be divided into two shifts.

The city of Ingolstadt is located on the Danube River, and has many historical sights to offer. The old city center is marked by its churches, castles, and city halls. You can swim in the local pool or in a lake 2 kilometers away, walk along the Danube, relax in the park, go to the zoo, or visit one of the many museums the city has to offer. You can also take trips to Nuremberg or Munich.
Requirements:
A basic knowledge of German and pedagogical talent are required, and you should enjoy working with children.
The idea of the Familienbildungsstatte Alte Flachsfabrik is realized in the dwelling of an old flax manufactory. To rebuild it into a boarding house we now have to renovate the rooms (painting/fettling, tiling, building walls,-). We also need help in gardening and landscaping (fencing wickers and building an open barn for sheeps and alpacas, laying out the garden/beds and ways, -).

The Family Education Centre Alte Flachsfabrik is placed in a climatic health resort and a countryside which is surrounded by the large forest/hill Wiehengebirge . It is situated on the edge of the village, next to the nature protection area. The participants will live in renovated guestrooms of the centre. Besides the recreation room and the kitchen there are several renovated showers and restrooms. Bedcovers will be provided.

The study-part: All participants have the chance to gain experience in technical skills as well as in the contact with children in pedagogical work. They can learn about pedagogical opportunities in and with nature. This includes outdoor activities such as climbing. You will participate in the construction of a charitable Family Education Centre. In addition you will get to know the surrounding of Rodinghausen (Bielefeld, Herford, Koln,-) doing different activities and excursions.
Requirements:
Participants should be ready for physical work and be interested in pedagogical and ecological themes. Non-smokers and Non-alcoholics are especially welcome.
The residents of a nursing home in Edewecht will experience a vacation from daily life with an international flair this year. Your group will help with taking care of them and creating free time activities for the residents. Taking trips together, going for walks, singing, playing games, etc, will be lots of fun for you and the residents. Your team will also plant small, themed gardens for them and help them make their ideas for their home a reality. Possible projects include planting a garden, planting an Asian style flower garden, or planting a smell and senses garden. You are also more than welcome to bring your own ideas

Free Time: Edewecht is a small town in the Ammerland region. You will be provided with bikes in order to explore the area and the well built bike path network. The city of Oldenburg is 20 km away and easily reached by public transportation. On the weekends you can take trips to Bremen and the North Sea coast. This summer opportunity is run for kids between 7 and 14. On a green area right on the Danube River, they will build their own wooden huts and are already looking forward to games, sports, creative offerings, and a surprise excursion that you will provide them with. During the first week you will get to know the youth center 4You, organize international cooking evenings, and prepare the camp with your team. Please bring ideas from your home countries During the second and third weeks, half of your group will be busy with the summer camp ( 9 hours a day), and the other half will run a social project in the city Deggendorf (3 hours a day). Tasks will include picking fruit for the Deggendorf Soup Kitchen, visiting nursing homes, cleaning, or caring for children. After a week the groups will switch.

In the Jugendcenter 4You youth center(www.4you-deggendorf.de), showers are located 500m away in a gymnasium. Meals will be prepared as a group and in the afternoons you will eat with the children.

The youth center offers countless free time activities and offers you an internet cafe, billiards, foosball, air hockey, etc. It is only a short walk to the city center from here, where you will find a pool, museums, pubs, and shops. Due to its central location, Deggendorf is an ideal starting point for excursions to places such as the Bavarian forests, Regensburg, Passau, the Czech Republic, or Munich.

Your team will be working in a home for people with mental handicaps, run by the Sozialstiftung Kopenick, a social organization which runs workshops in the mornings and early afternoons for the residents here. For three to four hours in the afternoon, your main task will be to organize and run a summer festival with the residents of the home. For this, you will be able to show your creative side and bring ideas for decorations, games, music, theater, food, etc. You will also have time to organize and go on excursions with the residents.

You will sleep on mattresses in the Haus Naunyritze, in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin. Catering: During the week, meals will be provided by the home; all other meals will be prepared as a group.

Would you like to dig around in a garden and at the same time help handicapped people? Then this project is just for you A workcamp right in the city of Hanover, but also in a very green area will be taking place in cooperation with the Lebenshilfe Seelze, a workshop for handicapped people. Together with a group of non-handicapped and handicapped people you will renovate the grounds of the Nature Friends House in Hanover. You will help build a wooden platform for nature observations as well as for sleeping overnight in the forest, build benches for people to sit on in the entrance area, plant scented Mediterranean beets and renovate the grill area. In all areas, the sense of nature should be made stronger by strengthening all the senses. This project also includes eating together with the helpers as well as doing some leisure activities together with them.

The international volunteers are invited to the Asylum centre for two weeks to take part in the daily life of the refugees. In the study part of the camp, we want to discuss the situation of refugees in Germany and Europe, as well as the current developments in the area of Asylum-policies. We want to get in contact with the residents of the Asylum Centre so that we can learn about their stories, difficulties and perspectives. Together with the refugees we want to organise common activities, where the women and children are taken into consideration. In addition, our goal is to get in contact with the young members of the local protestant church to raise greater awareness for the refugees and to break the isolation of the refugees. We would like to specially invite volunteers that speak Turkish, Arabic or Farsi. In addition, we will prepare contact with students of the university that are willing to take care of the medical issues of the refugees and to pursue the legal issues of the asylum law. We will also get in contact with students of the University who medicate peoples without legal status. We especially invite volunteers to participate, who are able to speak Turkish, Arabic or Farsi. Besides organising common activities with the refugees we want to work together in the reception centre to maintain the playground and to renovate the cafe.

The work camp will be hosted by a local protestant church which is already involved in working with the refugees. The premises of the church are plentiful and for that we will have a lot of space for sleeping, cooking, dining, relaxing, indoor and outdoor activities.

Giessen, a city populated mostly by students, it is located in the mid-west of Germany. Giessen is easy to reach via the Airports in Frankfurt and Frankfurt Hahn. There are plenty of possibilities for leisure time activities like playing soccer or canoeing as well as possibilities to visit some other cities. (e.g. Marburg, Frankfurt or Heidelberg).
