For the second time the small community of Burk invites an international workcamp! Last year´s camp was a big success and so the community is happy to repeat the international experience. During the camp, on the 26th & 27th of April, the international hiking days are taking place in Burk and the Workcamp will help in this event.
WORK:
You will take care of an area on the local cemetery, which needs maintenance. The community has a big forest playground, which was totally renewed by last year´s Workcamp. This year you will enlarge it a bit by constructing some new playground equipment. You will help in the organisation of the international hiking days event, in which about 2000 hikers will participate. And maybe you will also do some tasks around a forest house of the community.
ACCOMMODATION:
A building in the community. You will cook for yourselves. Please bring your own sleeping bag and mat.
LOCATION:
Burk is a small and calm village in Bavaria with 1100 inhabitants. It is surrounded by beautiful nature with forests and hills. It is perfect for walks or hiking.
You will support a neighbourhood s gathering in a dynamic part of Berlin, where also the VJF office can be found. Musicians, singers, authors, sportsmen, dancers and many more artists and craftsmen which are working in this district will present their works. The event will run for the 2nd time on the 28th of June. You will help to prepare the gathering. We are not sure yet which concrete tasks have to be done so we need only volunteers who are flexible enough to cope with this situation. It is possible that your help won t be needed for the gathering all the time. In those times your help is needed to make the project and meeting centre more attractive for all our visitors - children, teenagers, students, artists and different groups of adults. The volunteers are asked to paint, repair, renovate and clean the centre, as well as working in the garden. Please be prepared for different tasks.
Accomodation & food:
You will live in heated bungalows with up to 6 girls or boys (on the maximum) on the ground of the place of the language course. The bungalow is equipped with your own bathroom including a shower and WC. You will get bed linen in the accommodation; there is no need to bring a sleeping bag with you.
In addition to the games in the mud there are activities for the guests and tourists attracted by the event. The idea of this work camp is to invite visitors to an international game without borders . You will be placed on the dyke (which is a kind of stand for the visitors) and you will prepare games known in your country. It should be creative and funny- You have one week to prepare the games and things you will use for. If you need materials, it will be provided by the municipality. Games should be appropriate for children and for adults as well.

Accommodation will be provided in a building of the municipality, but it is not fixed yet. Please bring a sleeping bag with you.
Location & leisure:
Brunsbuttel is part of the coastal region Hamburg and there are lots of opportunities to spend the time. The Wadden Sea as world heritage site, swimming, making a trip on a boat and visiting a lot of interesting places, including Hamburg.

First task will be to renew wooden fences around the local kindergarten and primary school. In addition to that there will be various painting jobs and preparation tasks on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the all-day school and the 20th anniversary of the primary school. On the 12th of July the celebration will take place and you are warmly welcome to enjoy this day together with kids and their families Apart from that there will be different environmental tasks waiting for you such as cleaning and improving of the green areas around Willstaett. Volunteers will work together with workers from the local building department.

will be in a generous building of the fire brigade with all sanitary facilities provided. Kitchen and camp beds are in place as well.

The community of Willstaett contains several villages with all in all around 9000 inhabitants. It is situated in the beautiful southern part of Germany close to the border to France. It is characterised by its beautiful architectural style. There is also a lot to see and discover in the landscape close to the black forest with its spectacular sights (waterfalls, castles-). Close bigger cities like Freiburg or Strasbourg offer a wide range of cultural events.

During the first week you will help to prepare and run 2 festivals. The Youth Band Open Air festival Fayatak will be run on the 14th of June and the international drumming festival for children, youngsters and families RAKATAK will take place on the 16th of June. In the previous years 7000 visitors were present at the festivals. Your help will be needed to prepare, to run and afterwards to clean the site. Another task of this project will take place during the 2nd week in the youth club Maxim . Your help will be needed to renovate the big party room and do maintenance and environmental works outside on the ground of the Youth club. Please be prepared for hard physical work from time to time

During the festival time you will sleep on your foam mattress in your sleeping bag, so please don t forget them In the youth club there will be 2 rooms available. You will sleep on the floor on a mattress in your sleeping bag. Your quarters will be very modest, but of course there is a kitchen and bathrooms. However, the youth club is a nice place to work, live and party.
You will help the organisers in all phases of the festival: The main tasks will be setting up of the stage and campground on the site of the festival as well as the disassembly at the end. While the festival is running the volunteers will assist in different areas: bar, stage, organisation, catering etc. You will work closely with the people from the association Volunteers should be flexible enough to work long and unusual hours i and enjoy music Speaking or understanding basic German will be a plus

You will probably stay in the local brewery, like last years workcamp. It is not far from the festival area. Eventually the accommodation will change, since the local organizers are trying to find a better accommodation. Food will be served during the festival in the canteen throughout the day.

Pegnitz is a small town in Franconia, Bavaria, near Nuremberg. You can find medieval and historic buildings and churches in the centre of the city. The city is known for its beers: it has a long tradition in brewery and the locals are very proud of it. The Bavarian region in which Pegnitz is placed is called Little Switzerland i for a reason: Its beautiful surrounding invites to extended adventures and hiking trips in the region. There are all kinds of trails and possibilities to experience the unique nature.

: Karlstadt is situated in the Bavarian region called Franconia. The town is home to around 7000 inhabitants and has a historical touch to it. If you are interested in architecture, you will find lots of traditional, German buildings in the town centre. Also, with its vast vineyards and rolling hills, the region provides an opportunity for some calm and relaxing outdoor activities as an alternative to the hectic life of the festival.

Nordstadt.Mehr.Wert (www.nordstadt-mehr-wert.de) is a social project run by the Hildesheim Life Help Organization, which runs under the motto “all inclusive-a north city for everyone”. It seeks to develop new contacts and more encounters. Your group will support this project with two smaller projects. One is to build a new community garden on the grounds of a local playground which the city has closed. There, you will help build a tool shed as well as install flower beds, all while working with local people from the district. The square in front of the district office will be redone with a mosaic sculpture and an information board. Your help will be needed there as well! Together with the local radio station “Radio Tonkuhle”, your group will create a radio broadcast to document your project. In this diverse, colorful program you will find the right thing for you! You will work in small groups and decide to do one of these projects.
Free Time:
It is only a 5 minute walk to the train station, which opens up all the activities that Hildesheim has to offer (pool, lakes to swim in, the Kulturfabrik (Cultural Factory center), theaters, movie theaters, discos) as well as all the leisure activities that Hanover has to offer.
