Under the expert leadership of an environmental educator and a skilled landscape gardener with the youth center workers in Babenhausen, your group will work on a garden formation that will be close to nature. The main goal of the camp will be to make the two hector large outside area more structured and therefore more diverse for the animal and plant world, but also for visitors. There is plenty to do, as various construction projects need to be done! An old wooden bridge needs to be redone, a bee hotel will be built, the fire pit needs to be renovated, and a barefoot path will be laid, as well as a shelter at the high ropes course. Your team will also get peeks into the pedagogic methods and goals at an environmental station, i.e. how to make complex topics such as sustainability and environmental protection exciting for visitors. you should be able to ride a bike. The project may be physically challenging and will take place outside no matter the weather.
You will help the British artist and sculptor Robert Koenig (www.robertkoenig-sculptor.com) to set up his exhibit, and help support him with his grand opening (at the drink area). You will have the opportunity to participate in a workshop with him (carving with wood). During the second half of camp, your team will help cut walls free from brush and help build a dry stone wall, as well as build covered seats for a grill, cut firewood, and do other necessary tasks. You will likely work in the mornings, with some work on the weekends (for the grand opening). You will then have Fridays off.

Location: Baden-Wurttemberg; Stuttgart 30 kmFree Time: Nuerting has about 40,000 residents and is located in the Neckar Valley area near the Swabian Alps (www.nuertingen.de). Take a bike ride through this beautiful landscape, to nearby swimming areas, along the Neckar River, or to the Biosphere area at the foot of the alps. In your free time, you will also have the opportunity to swim, climb in the alps, hike, or canoe along with discovering Nuertingen and the student city of Tuebingen. The state capital of Stuttgart is only a half hour train ride away, and offers museums, shopping, a planetarium, theater, etc.
Important is the work in the Garten der Sinne , which needs maintenance every year. Especially the tunnels made of wicker. In case of rainy weather there is renovation to do indoors. We will be integrated into the household and are asked to cook the typical food of our country for approximately 20 guests and stuff of the Mullerhof. In the end of the workcamp an international evening is planned, to introduce the countries of the participants. This will be open to the public. This year again, there will be the possibility to work with an artist some creative work to be shown in the public. Last years volunteers created fantastic graffiti -Study part:We can explore the possibilities and activities of the Mullerhof, and it is possible to join workshops. In the last years volunteers joined for example yoga classes.

Accommodation: The participants will sleep in the big loft of the Muellerhof (80m) which includes a shower and toilets.

Leisure time: There is a range of possibilities for excursions and visits of interesting places:Guided tour through the University of Applied Sciences, visits to the town hall, museum and church of Mittweida. We will also offer outdoor activities and guided hiking-tours in the area (e.g. a hike to a dam, the fortress Kriebstein or the Rochlitzer Porphyrberg). It s also possible to visit the cities nearby (Dresden, Leipzig or Chemnitz).Region:Mittweida is surrounded by a nice landscape with nice places waiting to be visited. Next interesting cities are Freiberg, Leipzig, Dresden. There is an university for applied science with lots of international students.
Your help will be divided into two parts. During the 1st week of your workcamp a “Creative Workshop” is planned. You will mould a wall with an artist from Halle/Saale. You will work creatively with colours, paper and photography in the rooms of the Cranach Coutyards (http://www.lutherstadt-wittenberg.de/cranach-haeuser-und-hoefe.html?&L=1).
Besides this work you will get the opportunity to learn more about the story of Luther and Cranach. Lutherstadt Wittenberg will organise a lot of activities in the frame of the “Cranach Year”, to celebrate his 500th Birthday. Your work will be a part of the activities / celebrations.
In the following two weeks you will work outside to signpost the “Lutherweg = Luther's path” a pilgrim’s path around Lutherstadt Wittenberg to Dessau / Anhalt. There is a site about this path, where you can find more information, unfortunately only in German: www.lutherweg.de.
The city of Lutherstadt Wittenberg is preparing the celebrations for the anniversary year 2017, “500 years of Reformation”. Other works are possible, please be prepared to support the host.
You will have the opportunity to participate in the “Wittenberger ErlebnisNacht”, a night full of art events and light shows in different parts of the city. During the weeks outside you will go to the work by bike everyday. So it is REALLY important that you are able to ride a bicycle!

You will also have the possibility to attend artistic workshops like pottery or screen printing.

Nuertingen is a beautiful old town with approx. 40,000 inhabitants. The town is located on the Neckar River and Stuttgart is only 19km away. Nuertingen is surrounded by beautiful nature and offers many cycling and hiking trails. From Nuertingen there are good train connections to visit places near-by. You can go to Stuttgart, the capital of Baden Wuerttemberg, and Esslingen, a quaint, medieval town with traditional German architecture.

The World Stage in Heckenbeck, a small town with only 450 residents, is a cultural center with a large theater in a former village guesthouse. Every year, the residents look forward to an international theater project Your group will be their guest for two weeks, will get to know the town, and under the expert leadership of a theater educator, will develop your own, international drama piece. What does home mean to you is this year s theme. Is it a place, a smell, a song, or a certain person? Is it the place you were born, or where you live? Two parks for the Bavarian Garden Show Natur in der Stadt (Nature in the City) will be created in downtown Alzenau. Their 9 hectors will focus on the topics of Energy and Generations Together . Your team will help with the end of the show. Through working together with the Jump Youth Center, you will also have contact to local youth as well. You will be staying close to the garden grounds in a school. Together with the Jump Youth Center, your team will create an art project at the garden show. Painted boards, that guests painted as a type of garden show diary, will be built into a fence. This fence will document the guest s impressions of the garden show and will remain there until the end of the show. Where: Bavaria; Aschaffenburg 20 km, Frankfurt am Main 40 kmFree Time: Beautiful swimming areas are available in Alzenau, with a forest pool and a lake. There is also a great skate park. A few kilometers away, the Freigerichter Lakes are a great place to swim and for leisure activities. You can also take trips in Bavaria, as well as in Hessen, and can get to know these beautiful German states. The cities of Aschaffenburg and Frankfurt are easily reached as well.
We are invited to design a big mural in the village with the topic peace . This requires some talent for designing. There will be a professional screen printer who offers a workshop making your own silkscreen. Participants who prefer manual labour find a playing area around the buildings of the centre, where we will do some garden work and we can enlarge the playground and a garden for climbing on ropes. During the workcamp an Abend der Begegnung (Evening of encounter) with the people of the village and region will be organized. Study: We will learn some essentials of peace work and get basic non-violent conflict management training. In the second week we will visit the former concentration camp of Bergen Belsen, and have some lessons on European history in the first part of the 20th century. We will have the opportunity to spend an evening in a German family.

The Antikriegshaus is at the verge of a village with about 2500 inhabitants. The Peace Center is near the historical location where in 1553 a battle took place. Sievershausen lies 30 kilometers east of the Lower Saxony provincial capital Hanover on the freeway to Berlin.
