The Project : Rebuild the medieval castle of a small French village !?! Learn the recipe of lime mortar ?!? Since summer 2002, workcamps have begun to protect the Montaigu le Blin s castle which has been listed as a Historical Monument. Thanks to your involvement, we would like to stop the damages caused by bad weather and vegetation, and eventually, give back to the castle the important part it used to play (openings to the public, guided tours, heritage linked activities ). 2 workcamps (July and August) will take part in this project in 2011. The work : Works are numerous and diversified. The restoration will focus on the surrounding wall: dismantling the top part, cutting back into the old joints, building and repointing using lime mortar. Careful: you ll work at heights, on scaffolding ! Some steps need to be restored. And in inclement weather, some works inside the castle s rooms are possible (clean the wood floor, close the windows, etc.) Your other tasks are to clear the vegetation in order to restore the public access to the castle and welcome visitors. Your ideas and experience will help us to bring the castle back to life! Web address : http://montaigu le blin.info/ , www.cc varennesforterre.fr

« I would recommend participating in a workcamp, especially with VAP, who ensured that I found a project to suit me and provided essential training for me in preparation for my trip. Being part of a workcamp really is a life-changing experience, oh, and it looks great on your CV! »
