This project is a partnership between the Association du Centre de Beaumotte and the Association « Le Lieu » who are professional in the Theater of the Oppressed ( Augusto Boal technique) . As this is our goal we work mainly with the youth as a team together for an effective education. The methods of the Theatre of the Oppressed were developed by Augusto Boal in Latin America in the 1970's. His goal was to draw visibility to social and political conflicts by giving a voice to marginalizedgroups who were facing oppression under totalitarian regimes of the time . We wish through this project to give teenagers the opportunity to stage their difficulties, their fights and their doubts in order to find solutions to european difficulties. A final show, in front of the villagers, will be planned.
Accomodation & food:
Participants will be accommodated at the centre of the village, in the town hall. The place tosleep is a common room with camp beds. They will sleep in collectivity on campbeds (girls andboys separated). There will be available bathroom and kitchen. Because of the situation (in a rural area) WIFI access will be limited. Everybody will take part in the collective life: making of the meals, cleaning and preparing activities for the night.
Location & leisure:
In a dynamic of popular and non-formal education, you will be able "to make and to live together" and each one of you will be responsible for the daily life of the group.
This tool is very important for a real encounter:
youngsters will elaborate their own menus, cook in groups, do the cleaning, and organize their activities. The exchanges at cooking time, the household, and the leisure activities will be the base of interculturality of this project.
You will transform two old telephone booths into book cabins: painting them from the outside, deciding how to organize them inside, installing shelves, making painting and decorations. You can also think about the modification of the exterior parts of the cabins. Along with a technical leader, you will learn basic carpentry skills and how to handle tools.
Accomodation & food:
You will be accommodated in a municipal guest-house in the center of the village, which will be reserved only for you. There will be separate rooms for girls and boys and an area for community life, including kitchen and a lounge corner. A yard will be at your disposal, so you may have meals outdoors. The group will be sharing the cleaning chores and preparing meals together. The budget will be allocated to the group leader and you will participate in the preparation of dishes using good products from the market and local producers.
Location & leisure:
The village of Chouvigny is located in Auvergne, 60 km away from Clermont-Ferrand and 10 km from Ebreuil, where you can find shops. It is perfectly situated in the Gorge of Sioule, on the shore of a natural and wild-flowing river, where you might see beavers and swim! During your stay, you will enjoy the town's summery energy and the countryside nearby (hiking, visit of castles, see shows, etc.). « I think our work has really opened the eyes of the youth there. I think that, because of our presence, some local youths got the chance to learn about other cultures which they wouldn't have otherwise. »
