Volunteers are expected to provide assistance to the team of workers in the natural gardens of Grigny, the site will be an opportunity to share and work together. Since 10 Years, volunteers come each summer to help workers in the natural garden and educational farm (gardening, construction, landscaping...). Our activities in the garden all along the year are gardening and selling vegetables, beekeeping, environmental education, caring for farm animals... This place is a link between city and nature.
Work:
Volunteers will participate in the reconstruction of the wall of the garden. Rebuilding the wall will separate the farm part by a gate and then we could let the animals free, without risk to see all vegetables eaten by goats. You will also help the team in their daily work and learn organic gardening techniques, beekeeping and animal care.
Accomodation & food:
The volunteers will sleep in tents at the House of Children and Nature, 100 meters of the site. Volunteers will have access to a kitchen and a common room. You will show off your culinary skills by initiating other volunteers with typical meals of your region. Meals, like all daily activities will be carried out collectively. We will favor local and seasonal products that are at the heart of our eco-citizen approach.
Location & leisure:
Volunteers with leaders decide on a program of activities for the afternoons and week-ends. Games will be organized, meals with locals and workers, tours and bike rides in the area, a visit of Paris will also be provided.
Requirements:
Each volunteer will have the opportunity to make a traditional meal of his country, so bring recipes.
« The outside world did not interfere, because it seemed so distant, and so we spent our spare time getting to know each other and learning about each other countries', languages and cultures. Everyone was completely relaxed. This simply would not have been possible on any other type of holiday. VAP enabled me to have a truly memorable experience. »
