The volunteers will work in a summer camp for local children and youngsters. Volunteers will work alongside the local youth workers and international long term volunteers. Camp activities include arts and crafts, swimming, hiking, campfire and sports. The aim of this camp is to give international and multicultural experiences to the local children and youth and to break barriers between different cultures. The volunteers should be prepared to take part in all duties including keeping the place tidy. This camp is an excellent opportunity to experience Finnish culture and non-formal education in beautiful nature surroundings.
Accomodation & food:
Volunteers will sleep in the center building where the summer camp takes place. During the summer camp days volunteers have meals together with the children. At the weekend the volunteers will cook together.
Location & leisure:
The municipality of Janakkala and the camp centre Mallinkainen is situated in Southern Finland, about 90 kilometers from Helsinki. The camp is by the lake in the middle of a forest, good possibilities for swimming, fishing and hiking. Please note that the camp does not have regular bus connections to the city.
Requirements:
: It is not allowed to use tobacco, alcohol or drugs during this camp. Accepted volunteers will need to provide a certificate of good conduct (criminal record sheet) in English one month before the beginning of the camp and bring the original with them.The volunteers need travel insurance for the duration of their stay. Registration fee of 40 euros
