The work and all tasks of the volunteers are linked to a large childrens camp. The Beat Camp will gather about 2000 children and youngsters to a camp centre of a Christian Association for Boys and Girls in Finland. Before the Beat starts the volunteers assist building the camp site and the outside activity places. During the Beat camp the volunteers assist in camp tasks, such as supplying food and cleaning), welfare services, activities with the children, maintenance and communications. After the camp the volunteers assist in clearing the camp site. The volunteers have to be willing to spend lots of time outdoors in all weather conditions.
Accomodation & food:
Accommodations in the cottages of a well-equipped camp centre Partaharju. Meals at the camp site are included. There will be lots of activities to do.
Location & leisure:
The camp site is located in eastern Finland near town Pieksamaki. Pieksamaki can be reached by train from Helsinki (about 4 hours). See more www.pieksamaki.fi
Requirements:
Because the work is with children all the volunteers will need to provide a criminal record check in English. Since the camp deals with children and is organized by a Christian organisation they expect all the volunteers to have an open mind towards religion (they do not need to be Christians) and also to be motivated to work with children and provide some games and activities from their home countries etc.
