Youth office of Helsinki city is the camp host of this camp so there will also be 10 Finnish volunteers taking part in all activities in addition to 15 international volunteers. The camp is arranged in an old wooden house in an island in front of Helsinki. The volunteer will do maintenance work in the house and around it. The work will be physical work such as painting and moving sand, maybe also some tidying up. Intercultural learning is a very important part of the camp, so all the volunteers should be prepared to tell about their home countries.
Accomodation & food:
Accommodation will be in the house which is owned by the city youth office. The volunteers will cook their meals in turns (be ready to cook something typical for your country).
« I would recommend participating in a workcamp, especially with VAP, who ensured that I found a project to suit me and provided essential training for me in preparation for my trip. Being part of a workcamp really is a life-changing experience, oh, and it looks great on your CV! »
