IKKO flolk high school also hosts special target groups such as students with special needs as well as young asylum seekers and refugees, altogether there about 150 people living the school accommodation throughout the year. The school surroundings need maintaining so the volunteers will work with seasonal tasks indoors and outdoors. The work includes varying tasks such as tidying, assisting in the kitchen or library and there will also be organized intercultural activities. The volunteers can also attend Finnish language and culture courses as well as join excursions to local sights such as forest museum. One of the themes of this camp is Japan since half of the volunteers will be Japanese. Excellent possibility to get to know both Finnish and Japanese culture.

The volunteers will have a great chance to get to know Finnish countryside, local culture, traditions and people. The volunteers will work with people from the village and assist in various manual tasks such as painting, repairing furnitures and tidying the environment. The volunteers will also organize an international play day for local children and youngsters where they will teach some traditional games from your country.

Accommodation will be in a camping area in Nummijarvi. The volunteers will be staying at shared cottages with showers, kitchen, beds and bedsheets. The volunteers will prepare breakfast and dinner themselves, lunches are provided in the work places. At the weekend, the volunteers will cook together.

The volunteers will improve surroundings of the historical foundry (ironworks) area of Juankoski by working outdoors with landscaping and tidying. The volunteers will also assist in the preparation and carrying out a fun event of go-cart (gravity racer) grand prix which takes place in the area for two days.

In shared rooms in a hostel within walking distance of the work area. Breakfast and a soup lunch will be provided, dinner will be prepared by the volunteers by themselves.

Juankoski is about 390 km north east from Helsinki near Kuopio. The area is surrounded by beautiful nature and lakes. If you are interested in history, speed and fun this is the camp for you
Requirements:

The work will be to assist in organising a local event called National OldPowerdays 2016. There will be about 20 000 people visiting the happening during three days. The volunteers will assist in practical tasks in arranging the event, e.g. arranging a cafe, selling refreshments and tidying up the area afterwards. The volunteers must be prepared to do different kind of work in various weather conditions. There will be hard work, but also lots of fun with locals and other volunteers. The aim of the camp is to give the volunteers a chance to experience Finnish history, nature and culture and enable the local young people to meet youngsters from other countries.

Oulainen is a small town, about 7800 inhabitants. It s about 100 km south from Oulu and about 550km north from Helsinki. Various summer activities such as swimming, swamp football, playing games, excursions to nearby sights and fishing are possible.
