Himmelstorm Festival is a 2 day music festival in the eco-village Dyssekilde. The festival will host a broad palette of Danish musicians, poets and artists. The festival will communicate the values of the eco-village in all the aspects of the event, from the food and drinks to how we use energy and treat waste at the festival site. Between 200 and 300 guests are expected to visit the festival.
The work camp volunteers are going to be a part of the volunteer group that arranges the festival. The volunteer group consists mostly of people from the eco-village. Volunteers will help build up the festival site, run the festival and take it down again. In the first days of the camp the food and drink stands of the festival will be set up. Volunteers will also help local artists in creating large installations, prepare and decorate the stage and the whole festival site, set up the camping site, paint and put up signs in the village etc. During the festival volunteers are going to help in the bar, ticket sale, at the stage etc. and after the festival volunteers will help take down the festival, clean up the festival site etc.
There will in all aspects of the festival be focused on sustainability. This applies both to the food and drinks, which will be sold, energy consumed during the festival and the treatment of the festival's waste. During the camp the volunteers will live in and therefore be an integral part of eco-communities. Volunteers will get acquainted with and learn about the many forms of sustainability. Just as they will gain experience they can use in their daily lives when they return home.
It is the first time a festival like this takes place in the eco-village. The eco-village is very much looking forward to it, but underlines that volunteers should expect and be ready to accept and help when problems and unexpected incidents occur. Volunteers should be patient and ready to help solving new challenges as they occur during the camp. Additional information about the festival can be found at www.himmelstorm-festival.dk (in Danish)
