The work will manual and can be physically demanding. The tasks can include creating simple play structures for children from natural materials and maintenance of public areas (painting of fences, repairing benches, etc.). You will also work in the local nature reserve (former pastures) which needs to be maintained in order to protect rare species of plants and make the place attractive for locals. You will remove invasive bushes, prune and process branches, collect garbage and build simple play structures and benches. A lot of work will be done outside, please bring solid shoes.
Accomodation & food:
In the local primary school. A kitchen, a bathroom and the gym will be available. You will sleep on mattresses in classrooms or the gym. Please, bring your own sleeping bag and a light mat You will cook your own meals as a group.
Location & leisure:
A small town of Odolena Voda (population of 6000 inhabitants), at approximately half an hour from the outskirts of Prague by bus.Leisure time: You can visit the local church, fortress and museum; go on a hiking trip to close-by volcanoes, a trip to Prague, to the Veltrusy castle or a cycling trip to the town of Melnik. There is a possibility to use the community sports facilities for playing basketball, volleyball and beach volleyball and tennis. There is also a natural swimming pool.
Requirements:
The workcamp is suitable for volunteers who like working manually outdoor. Some work tasks will involve minor construction so you can use your skills or learn new ones. Moreover, if you like literature (prose or poetry reading), it is a perfect choice for you
