The workcamp takes place in cooperation with “Fokus Mlada Boleslav”. This non-governmental organization offers social services to people with long-term mental illnesses and psychological problems. The aim of the organization is to strengthen the quality of their clients’ lives, support their independence and make them less dependent on clinical care. Place of the workcamp is the former monastery, which “Fokus Mlada Boleslav” is renovating with the help of its clients since 1995. Step by step the monastery was transformed into a training centre offering seminars and trainings to the public.
Work:
The volunteers will help with the ongoing renovation works on the monastery. The main task is help to restore the monastery’s courtyards. This task means mainly to remove a thick layer of earth from the ground of the courtyard, which has been accumulated here during many years of neglect. An architect will be involved in the work, so maybe you will even discover some historical objects. It would be great to get the work finished during the project and rediscover the original resemblance of the courtyard.
Study part:
During the project you can learn more about the mission of the local partner and visit some of his protected workshops, . We will also try to arrange different form of meetings and exchange with the locals. It’s possible to organize an intercultural evening, so take some pictures and music that represents you and some interesting recipes with you.
Leisure time:
Just a few kilometres from the project you can find the so-called “Czech paradise” a rocky and mountainous area perfect for hiking. If will be also possible to visit some historical towns nearby a have a guided tour through the local castle.
Accommodation/Food:
You will be accommodate in several pleasantly renovated rooms directly in the former monastery. So you will work right next door. A big kitchen, showers and toilets are available. Meals will be partly prepared by the participants, so bring some of your favourite but easy-to-cook receipts, so that your meals can be really intercultural!

The work takes place outdoors, mainly in the archaeological open-air museum. Help with the construction of new buildings for the open-air museum, archaeological exploration (diggings), help with the organization of local cultural events and participating in them, help with gardening works in a newly created area nearby the outdoor museum, other manual work according to the current needs of the museum.Study part: Learn more about local history: An excursion to the Great Moravian Empire Monument in Stare Mesto, which offers an exhibition documenting this important era of Czech history and a professional guided tour of the open air museum held by Ludek Galuska, Ph.D., will be organized for you.

In the community house on mattresses, bring your sleeping bag The volunteers will cook together from common resources.
Location & leisure:
Village Modra, near the small town of Velehrad and about 6 km from Uherske HradisteSport with the local kids and youth, trips to the surrounding sights like castle Buchlov, the basilica of Velehrad, the towns of Uherske Hradiste and Kromeriz, intercultural evening with a local band and people from the village Modra.
