Volunteers will assist in the construction of a shelter to observe the local animals: they will clean the surroundings. They may perhaps see young fawn released. NB: work might be sometimes long and difficult. Volunteers will spend the whole day outdoor.
Accomodation & food:
In a cottage with two dormitories, beds, kitchen and bathroom with hot shower. Breakfast will be provided in the cottage and lunch as an outside picnic. Volunteers can decide whether they prefer to prepare their evening meals in the cottage or to eat in the restaurant of the Domain. Volunteers must notify beforehand about specific diet eg. vegetarian or muslim if any.
Location & leisure:
Domaine de Chevetogne is located in deep countryside. By choosing this workcamp, the volunteer decides to live in the nature. All around, there are fields, woods and small villages. Wild animals (deer, foxes or wild pigs) are very close. As the domain is also a tourist centre, there are plenty of opportunities for entertainment such as outdoor swimming pool, football fields, mini-golf, and tennis or basketball playgrounds. During the weekend, it will be possible to organise cultural visits and to travel to the biggest Belgian cities. The town of Ciney is 10 kilometres away from the Domain of Chevetogne. From there, it is very easy to reach bigger urban centres such as Namur (25 km), Brussels (90 km) or Liege (90 km).http://www.domainedechevetogne.be/ - check for nice pictures and general information.
« The outside world did not interfere, because it seemed so distant, and so we spent our spare time getting to know each other and learning about each other countries', languages and cultures. Everyone was completely relaxed. This simply would not have been possible on any other type of holiday. VAP enabled me to have a truly memorable experience. »
