With the support and assistance of QI Cebu and Barangay Gilutungan Local Government, local community and international volunteers will have the activities such as:1.Help in the renovation of the school facility like refurbishment, repainting and beautification2.Assist in the provision of nutrition, health care and wellness to local children and youth3.Undertake environmental activities like coastal clean-up, make garbage disposal area, tree planting, etc.4.Interact with the local children and youth through art, sports and team building activities5.Exchange of culture through music, games, food, language, etc.
Accomodation & food:
The international participants will be accommodated at Barangay Gilutungan Community Center in the project site with basic facilities. Personal sleeping bag is needed. Filipino food will be prepared by a local cook and International volunteers are encouraged to assist in the preparations to know about Filipino way of preparing and cooking food.
Location & leisure:
Gilutungan Island is a tiny but populous island and among the poorest island in the town of Cordova, Cebu. The island is rich in marine and natural resources but suffers with over population, very limited electricity and water supply and no proper garbage and waste disposal system. Gilutungan Island is surrounded with white sandy beach with crystal clear blue waters where volunteers could easily access at walking distance and swim anytime of the day. It also have several rich natural marine sanctuaries and in nearby islands. Volunteers could opt to go for island hopping and enjoy snorkeling or diving, etc. Volunteers can also choose to visit various cultural heritage sites in Mactan Island and Cebu City or experience other eco-tourism adventure like canyoneering, caving, trekking, etc. activities around the island of Cebu.
