Location: Mountainside with natural surroundings, about 50 km west of Tokyo. Terminal: Tokyo (90 min by slow train). Leisure: Exchange parties, hot spring, ceramic art, etc. Partner: Organized together with Hinode Taiyo no Ie (HTI), a home for mentally disadvantaged persons, since 1992. HTI has been isolated from the local community since its start in 1987 because of prejudice. It actively opens the home to people through festivals, ceramic art, etc. NICE has been acting as a "bridge" between the community and HTI through weekend and international workcamps. They also try to be an ecological institution, so they need help maintaining the surrounding mountainous area. Requirements: Motivation to work with mentally disadvantaged people.
