Mimasaka-city (http://kanko.city.mimasaka.lg.jp/ ) is famous for beautiful landscapes and hot springs. The most notable sightseeing spot is the birthplace of Musashi Miyamoto (1584~1645), the strongest swords man handling two swords at the same time. Hayashino Station is located about one and half hours by train (JR Kishin line) from Himeji city in Hyogo prefecture. Their landmark Himeji Castle was designated as a national treasure in 1931 and the World Cultural Heritage in 1993. Regarding the schedule on Sundays, please ask your host family if they have any plan made for the day before you make your own schedules. Keep in mind that you are strongly expected to spend time with your host family on weekends. Please do not make any plan with your friends on weekends without agreeing with your host family in advance. A volunteer needs at least 5,000 JPY in cash if she/he wants to go sightseeing on free-day.

Hagi is located in Yamaguchi prefecture, in the west part of Honshu, the Mainland of Japan, and faces the Sea of Japan. It is a small local city with the population of 55,000. Mishima island is located approximately 44 km from mainland Hagi, it has a population of 800 and Mishima cattle (Japanese native cattle) is registered as a Japanese National Treasure in 1928, and is one of only two remaining breeds of native cattle in the country. Mine is a neighboring city to Hagi and it is 30 minutes away from Shin Yamaguchi Station which is the hub station for bullet train. The camp location is within the area of a mysterious Akiyoshido Cave(秋芳洞) and a beautiful Beppu Benten pond (別府弁天池). They became a popular touristic spot in recent years. A volunteer needs at least 10,000 JPY in cash if she/he wants to go sightseeing on free-day.

-Volunteer work at 2 senior home (Takatsuki Megumi house in Osaka and Keiyunosato in Kyoto)-At both facilities, they help in general duties of nursing care in the facilities for the elderly people aged 65 and up-Assist activities such as exercises, songs, games, crafts and other daily works with Japanese staff who can not speak English. Senior who lives there also hardly speak English. -Clean table, sheets, entrance, backyard and carYour work here will be mainly talking to the people staying here to entertain them as the care workers are busy taking special cares such as getting them in a bath. It will be great if you could entertain them with music or magic or dance or anything that does not require language.

Takatsuki Megumi house is situated in Osaka, but it is close to Kyoto Station (12 minute train ride). Keiyunosato is located 30 minutes away from Kyoto station (15 minute train ride, and 5 minutes bus ride). During day-offs, volunteer enjoy sightseeing in Kyoto. Famous landmarks are Kiyomizu Temple, Kyoto Imperial Palace, Heian Shrine, Kinkakuji and Arashiyama. A volunteer is recommended to prepare at least 5,000 JPY for leisure. An average allowance a volunteer prepares on their own are about 30,000 JPY because everything is expensive in big city like Osaka and Kyoto

1.Patience to carry on the project with a camp leader who translates care home staff and seniors Japanese into English. Each volunteer needs to work on them little by little each day- Help Bamboo lanterns event from beginning to the end (give out brochure to locals, PR at city council, Newspaper Company and TV stations, taping and painting lantern, designing the food stand, prepare/cook your home country cuisine to the visitors) - Maintenance on the park (especially flower garden, camping place, restroom, shower room). Masuda is a city located in Shimane prefecture. It has a population of approx. 50.000 and the total area is 733.24 km². From the ancient times Shimane prefecture consists of three regions namely, Izumo, Iwami and Oki. Izumo region appears in Japanese mythology as the birthplace of Japanese culture and history. The name Iwami also is much referred to in Man-yo-shu, one of the oldest existing anthology of poetry put together in the late eighth century in Japan. One of the greatest poets of the time was Kakinomoto Hitomaro, who lived in Iwami, and whose verse covered more than half of all 4,400 poems of the collection. A volunteer needs at least 5,000 JPY in cash if she wants to go sightseeing on free-day.

- Take a good care of children at KUSUNOKI childcare center for a week (have them take a shower and a nap. prepare snacks, read them a book, help summer festival, take children to the park) -Participate and offer a silent prayer to 70th Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony and its related events in August 6th -Take turns in wood chopping, cooking, planning an event (have an open air concert, do fireworks, make candles, sendoff lanterns and "KAIDAN" Ghost Stories telling during night time), pitch/clean tents. There are about 150 people (both volunteers and campers) attending the peace camp between August 4-7th.-Attend cultural exchange workshop/discussion with Hiroshima University Students. In previous year, they made Japanese cuisine, origami, and paper fan together with International volunteers. Students are planning something new this summer -At Kochi town, volunteers join activities to stimulate the community and accelerate communication among local and international members. More detail task to be decided. The weather is not stable at this time of the seasons. Outdoor work (especially during camping) may change if it rains.

Volunteers will mainly help local people to maintain Nishiyama area such as grass cutting at parks and ruins of a castle. Also cutting bamboos to make them lantern for local festival to energize local people and the area.
