This project will be organised with children in a coastal area, in one of the fisherman villages of north Java Sea. The problem encountered by the people in this area, like many other coastal areas in Indonesia, is lack of education about personal and environmental hygiene.
The volunteers will introduce and promote more about personal hygiene and how to maintain it to the local children and local people. Changing behaviour and campaigns about clean environment and personal health will be also done here.
Aims of this project are to increase the awareness of the local people to keep their personal health and environment as well as to improve the personal health conditions of each individual living there.
Work:
Volunteers will do behaviour changing activities for the local people towards their environment and personal hygiene especially children, organising additional lessons for the children, cultural exchanges, school visits and club activities.
Accommodation:
Host family, sleeping bag needed, self cooking.

Special remarks:
Be ready for hot sunny days (29-32C), bring sun block, a hat will be very useful. Bring many ideas for games, traditional clothes; bring also recipes from your country for an international dinner.

This project will be held at the FatimatusZahro orphanage. This will be the second workcamp organised together with FatimatusZahro orphanage.
This project site has been one of the long term volunteer projects for IIWC with 2 long term volunteers placed there now. FatimatusZahro is a muslim orphanage accommodating not only children without parents but also needy children whose parents could not afford for their formal education. Poverty is a main reason why these parents entrust their children under the education of the orphanage. In this project the volunteers are expected to share happiness, love, and care with them.
The main aim of the camp is to get to know the daily life of orphan children in order to have a nice and meaningful relationship with them and to share love and happiness together.
Work:
Together with Faza (the abbreviation of FatimatusZahro) volunteers will teach/assist/help the children with skills development: handicrafts making (bracelets, origami, saving boxes from recycle materials, etc). Other activities can be foreign language classes, especially English, with creative methods and approaches such as games, songs, quizzes, etc. Volunteers can also arrange cultural exchange events, gardening, sporting activities, a wall magazine, etc.
Special remarks:
Please prepare your big smiles, toys, candies, and origami paper, many ideas for games and plays and other interesting activities for children. Story books are also welcome. Very basic and simple life of an Indonesian Moslem traditional orphanage. It will be very interesting and challenging to set up activities with very attentive and enthusiastic children.

The aims of the camp is to get to know the daily life of orphan children in order to have nice and meaningful relation with them then to share love and happiness together; to broaden their perspectives of life and possibility of their future dreams-what they want to be in the future; especially for this year, we would like to raise awareness of environment issue in this orphanage in term of garbage management system.
WORK:
Together with Faza (the abbreviation of Fatimatiuz Zahro project) LTV, volunteer will teach/assist/help the children with the garbage management system including the basic information andthe system itself. By organizing some environment classes, the volunteers are to be working for raising awareness about garbage and by working together with the children making a huge garbage bin and some other bins for separating garbage, volunteers are to be involving in changing the habit of the children in the orphanage. Other works can be organizing some foreign language class, especially English, with possible and creative methods and approaches such as games, songs, quizzes, etc as part of cultural exchange. Volunteers can also arrange other activities of cultural exchange, gardening, sport activities, making wall magazine, etc.
