Background: Betlehem orphanage is one of Christian orphanage in Semarang. This orphanage is located in the urban area of Semarang and built to accommodate unfortunate children who live on the street or orphan family. There are 8 full staffs who work for this orphanage and helped by 6 workers. They have task to be caretaker for the kids, teach them many things, like washing clothes, brushing teeth, studying, etc. It accommodates 40 children from different family background, from being left at the street to household violence. All of them are male, because this orphanage is special for male orphan. This place is equipped with living room, bedroom, hall, field, office, church, etc. The age of the kids is more than 5 years old and less than 18 years old. Most of them are still elementary school and some of them stay in Junior High school. We would like to host foreign volunteers because we believe that their interaction with the kids, during formal and informal activities and other activities like fun English & activities will be of great benefit as our kids have little or no chances to meet and live with people from other cultures.
Work:
the volunteers will do renovating work by painting some class rooms and making bookshelves for the library and also involved in other activities like teaching English and playing with the kids. Beside, the volunteers will also be assist local teacher in classes like teaching very basic conversation in English, helping teacher in giving training on physical activities of the students like making simple handicrafts, playing, doing simple sport etc. Also to open the mind of international volunteers that the disabled students also need attention to face their future.
Study theme:
The volunteers will be introduced to the education activities of the orphanage students related with Indonesian culture and customs in general.
Leisure Time:
During free time, the volunteers will have the chance to visit Semarang city, Samp Poo Kong Chinese Temple, Lawang Sewu Building and Gedong Songo Hindus Temples.

The volunteers will be accommodated in the dorm (basic conditions, sleeping bag and mat needed) and cook their own meal.

Background: MIM Dempul is one of kind of private schools in the level of elementary school. It is located in Dempul village, Gemolong subdistrict, Sragen Regency. This school was founded in 1950. The school consists of 1st until 6th grade. And each grade consists of approximately 19 students, small number comparing to the student number in other elementary school which usually consists of 30 up to 40 students. There are 9 teachers all together, including the head master who doubled his/her job to teach the students as well due to the limited number of teachers. Sometimes one teacher teaches 1 until 2 subjects in the class because the school has no enough funds to hire more teachers. Since it is private school, the school has to accommodate the school needs independently in the term of facility and the financial. It doesn't receive enough financial support from the government to improve the school facilities like the other states school. Moreover, it is located in the village so the students have low motivation in learning. Most of their parents are working as farmer, carpenter and trader. Therefore, they have no idea the importance of education but still there are some parents working as teacher or government officer. By hosting volunteers in this school, we hope that the students are motivated and courage to study more. Moreover, this project is expected to open parent's mind concerning the importance of education toward their children. Since the school is located in the village the students rarely interact with foreigners or international volunteers, this pilot project will be a stepping stone for the school, teacher as well as local people in the term of global understanding. This project is also aimed to support the school needs due to the lack of facilities such as library and knowledge book.

Background: Bandungrejo village is located in Jepara regency – Central Java Province with the population around 6.669 people. This village is surrounded by rice field. The project site will be in elementary school named SD N Bandungrejo 1. All of the local people mostly working as farmers, traders and so on and they also still keep the local tradition. The foundation wishes to introduce and give new improving program to the social community and keep providing assistance to local village and inhabitants, while promoting international solidarity and intercultural encounter. In this sense it would like to involve international volunteers both in renovating the area and education in the local instance.

Background: Wonosobo is located 12 kms southern away from semarang, the capital city of Central java. It is surround by mountain, Sindoro, Sumbing Mountain, Dieng Highland and Prahu Mountain, so the local people works in agriculture, planting some vegetables, fruit, etc. Because of living in slope of the mountain, so the weather there are so cold. Our project will cooperate with local elementary school. Dejavato decided to support the educational development of the children and the youngsters of Wonosobo by supporting the local school and providing different courses (English, hygiene, environmental education, etc). Through this project, the volunteers will support the local development and educational program of Dejavato.

Background: Sayung is a sub-district located in Demak Regency. While Demak regency is located 100 km north away from Semarang. Demak was the springboard from which Islam spread in Java Island. It was also from here that the Hindu Majapahit kingdom was conquered and much of Java's interior was converted. In this workcamp project Dejavato is working together with local foundation called "LAZIS". This local foundation is working in social and educational field which is mostly dedicated for unfortunate family and street children. There are some activities performed by this foundation such as outdoor gathering, mindset training as well as language courses. One of the centre used by this foundation is located in Sayung, Demak. Dejavato decided to support the educational development of the children and the youngsters in this centre by supporting the local children and providing different courses (English, hygiene, environmental education, etc). Through this project, the volunteers will support the local development and educational program of Dejavato.
