This project will be organized with local youth, children, and people in a coastal area, in one of the fishing villages of the North Java Sea. The problem encountered by the people in this area, like many other coastal areas in Indonesia is lack of education about personal and environmental hygiene. The volunteers will introduce and promote more about personal hygiene and how to maintain it to the local children and local people. Changing behaviour and a campaign about clean environment and personal health will be also done here.
Aim:
Aims of this project are to increase the awareness of the local people to keep their personal health and environment as well as to improve the personal health condition of each individual living there.
Work:
Volunteers will do behaviour changing activities for the local people towards their environment and personal hygiene especially with children, organising additional lessons for the children, cultural exchanges, school visits and club activities.
Accommodation:
Host family, sleeping bag needed, self cooking.
Location:
Tambak Rejo village, North of Semarang Central Java-Indonesia.
Language:
English should be spoken among participants.
Terminal:
Ahmad Yani Semarang airport, Tawang train station.
Special Remarks:
Be ready for hot sunny day (29-32 degree Celsius), bring sun block for possible skin burn and a hat will be very useful. Bring many ideas for games, bring your traditional clothes; bring also recipes from your country for international dinner.
Fee:
Participation fee payable on arrival 165 Euros covering accommodation, meals, transportation, and material for project.
