Preserving natural diversity and the sea shore from erosion because of no more mangrove and too strong waves from the ocean will be the main focus of the camp. These projects will be the eight and ninth project organized by IIWC in answering the needs of preserving the coastal side of North Java Sea in Mangkang. This area is now in danger due to the sea erosion, cutting mangrove by a local factory and heavy force from the river flows. Before, many kinds of fish and shrimps were living there, but since the condition of the mangrove forest is getting worse, it is quite difficult to find the species anymore. Fisherman also needs to go further to the ocean to fish and it means they need to do much more work to earn money. Mangkang is the project site for IIWC's World Tanabata Action since 2008. It is a global project initiated by NICE Japan that was then adopted by CCIVS UNESCO in the beginning of 2008 where volunteers all over the world, through IVS, plant trees and hang their wishes on Tanzaku paper on a bamboo leaf.

The first Workcamp in this area took place in 2008. There was a 2 year project called IIWC Cares Jogja, after the earth quake in 2006. Some programs such as emergency workcamps, NVDA special camp, Notebook Action, donation for rebuilding one kindergarten, donation for sport facilities in primary schools in and around this area has been done successfully. Recently one the schools visited by the workcamps, called SD Muhamadiyah Semoya would like to have more IVS activity for the students there. The spirit and motivation brought by workcamp volunteers are expected to raise the motivation of the students to study more for their future.
